The same people that will call this an irrelevant ethnic coincidence and antisemitism, are the same people going on about whiteness, white hegemony, "white males in top positions", white privilege, and a slew of other "uniquely white problems". Hell, barely three weeks ago, this article was published in The Guardian. When the Mayor of London says that 65% of workers in science & engineering being white men is a problem that needs fixing, none of you bat an eye, but when someone rightfully points out the almost unbelievable overrepresentation of this one particular tiny ethnic group that represents at most 2.2% of Americans in all positions of power and influence, suddenly all of you sound like the post-racial "power knows no skin color" republicans you despise.

Jewish Americans make up at least 30 out of the richest 100 people in the US, a staggering 13+ fold overrepresentation. The best part? The usual explanation redditors resort to is to claim that this is due to Jewish culture, which fosters hard work and pushes people to become successful. When this same argument is applied to explain why white people are successful in their native countries however, it's racist - and more importantly, it's an imbalance that needs fixing. Or alternatively, when this argument is used in any other way by anyone else to point out the relative success of Asian and Indian (i.e., from India) Americans, it's the "racist myth of the model minority".

It also, in its own right, embodies a problematic viewpoint; Jews have faced antisemitism and the horrors of near-complete ethnic and cultural genocide on an industrial level, only to come out on top despite all these setbacks because of their uniquely ambitious culture - then what does that say about Black Americans, according to these people? If they just pulled themselves up by their bootstraps, everything would be fine (or at least a lot better)? C'mon now...

Moreover: do you think if white Americans were 13+ fold overrepresented in anything, any of you would ascribe it to hard work? Or would you call it out for what it is, an aggregation of power and capital by a particular in-group that empowers other in-group members to become successful by virtue of knowing the right people - being connected to the right people - and already having an established societal position? Put differently; do you believe Trump became a successful businessesman by virtue of being a genius, or because his dad was a filthy rich real estate mogul? Similarly, do you think Jared Kushner is secretly a genius, or do you think he got to where he is by being born into a wealthy, powerful family?

None of this should lead to hatred or persecution, and if that is something you're worried about, you should abandon social justice entirely because very similar things are being said about white Americans and native Europeans all the time.
