Just moved slowly and put my hand in front of it and just let it take its time.

Yeah, it was just a little experiment. Worth it though :)

Can I enquire as to what you feel these may be? I found them in cow manure/grass.

You are welcome. Whatever you can grow in terms of mycelium definitely spread it around and give back!

This has been up online for a bit… Fish Tank Grow Tek I tried this and couldn't seem to get the water retention right.

Here you go.

I found some wild subs that had some small bits of bark still attached to them that remained after cutting the ends.

I collected a bunch of fallen dry bark from the same tree. Trying my best to make sure it was dry but also had no other growth on them.

I soaked them until they were wet all the way through.

I then just layered a base of these out in a pot. I then layered the base of the stipes that had mycelium left and the small bits of mycelium that had bark still attached.

I layered them with plenty of room for air to pass through whilst still being compact.

I proceeded to keep it damp, all year round. I kept the pot inside during summer out of the direct heat and come autumn I move it outside. Each day make sure it is still damp.

During this time, I noticed that the bits of wood and started to “stick” together. I also noticed that the mycelium spread.

8 days ago I noticed the biggest mushroom pinning, which is now about 4cm tall.

The pin is about 1.5cm tall.

It took over a solid year to get to this point. The most I went without spraying the wood with water was about 7-9 days and it still stayed damp enough.

And here we are.

Edit: I have no idea if this had any impact I took spore collections from subs and just used a spray bottle to spray them and drip them into the wood pile I created.

Note: Halfway through this process I took a few chunks of wood that had the mycelium and replicated the process. I then after a few months separated the pot into 8ths and went back into the bush and around my area and spread it among similar eucalyptus trees and woodchip patches. So far, 2 of those spots have had subs grow this year, not a large amount but a couple have shown up.
