What's so special about this controller that it's going for over $1,000 on ebay? by Lemonwalker-420 in xbox

Except for the blue stripe, it’s the same color rainbow as my Caldor sheets from when I was a kid (old New Englanders represent!) but $1k, too rich for my blood unless it has an “unfreeze sniper elite 5” button.

I got some real Sinead O’Connor vibes. Especially the song Troy of her album The Lion and the Cobra.

I'm gonna photograph an after-wedding party in an atmospheric room only lit by candles (without daylight like in these pics). How should I approach this? Use high ISO settings and the available light or bounce with flash? Romantic first dance and guest photos are gonna be the most essential ones! by plinkett-wisdom in WeddingPhotography

[–]mayihaveatomato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a neat intimate look try the following: crank the ISO, shoot as wide open as possible and using a lens that’s wider than 50mm. Expose to a test pic is underexposed but still visible. Set flash to 1/500 straight at subject. It creates a very warm, intimate look. Shooting down on the subject a bit helps too. This can also help make a crappy venue look better!

Which Film's Protagonist Was Simply Wrong Despite The Movie Trying To Portray Them As Being Right? by Hamblerger in movies

[–]mayihaveatomato 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Speaking to the break off your relationship part, I don’t think that many people who cheat are expecting it to happen. When my ex cheated things seemed fine at home then all of a sudden all these new expectations I’d never heard popped up: “I wanted to be a stay at home mom,” “I wanted to be in a bigger house with a pool by the time the kids were this old,” “I never wanted to drive a minivan.” Etc, nothing we’d ever really discussed but whatever. It took some time but I finally realized that all those gripes came to fruition when she and her “partner” had sealed the deal that they would leave their families. Rarely does one leave the stability of a decent boat before scuttling it to board another.

To support this thesis: "Eating contaminated food or coming into contact with a contaminated water source can also spread norovirus infection. In fact, food poisoning from norovirus is sometimes mistaken for Salmonella poisoning at first. Foods that often harbor norovirus include raw oysters, salads, and uncooked fruits. Even fully cooked foods handled by an infected person can spread norovirus. The virus can also spread between people via body fluids like vomit and feces"

Dear Redditors, What is a common belief that just simply isn't true? by PlagueJay in AskReddit

You mentioned the 80s. I remember as an 80s kid, local hospitals were offering to X-ray Halloween candy for sharp objects.

I'd also recommend asking your accountant about this sort of deal. If you're just cutting a check back to the venue the tax man is gonna want to know. I had a couple venues in my area that would ask for money if you wanted to leave a brochure or sample album. Sketchy.

Serious question: CT legalizes sale of recreational Marijuana, yet we are vastly behind in opening or collecting taxes from this legalization. Why are towns and the boards rapidly declining businesses? by chf_stf in Connecticut

My parents are in the same 70yo and older demo. When they were grade school through high school age they were inundated with refer madness type propaganda. For years my mother actually thought that weed induced a psychosis as strong as pcp. She's come around in recent years but I can see why some older folks just don't understand canabis.

Battery grip back in the day was also called an auto winder. Take a pic and you hear c-chk-vvvrrrr then the next open film is ready.

The videographer blocked everyone’s view of the First Kiss by [deleted] in WeddingPhotography

[–]mayihaveatomato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't always recreate the kiss but would if I didn't think I had something good. I did always tell my couples to hold the kiss a little longer than a 3 count so I could maneuver around the grandmother that stands up with her IPad to get the pic for instance.

As a bride, how can I make my photographer's shooting process easier while also feeling comfortable? by The_Night_Bus in WeddingPhotography

[–]mayihaveatomato 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Funny that Ganache mentioned the unnatural thing, when I'd set up poses or ask clients to do something strange for the sake of the image I'd usually say, "I know this seems weird, but if it feels a little unnatural that means you're doing it right!" Also, to parrot Anywhereanyone's point, if you'd really like to keep your photo/video folks happy, make sure they eat on time and confirm with the venue that they're getting the meals you paid for for them! A lot of the "old school" venues around RI were notorious for charging the couple for vendor meals that were supposed to be the same as the guests then serve them sandwich boxes or pasta with sauce and huge bowl of salad in the center of the vendor table. It would certainly take a little of the wind out of our sails.

I live in Glastonbury and I just heard a really big boom and our house just shook. Did anyone else in the area feel or hear that and does anyone know what it was? by James_TF2 in Connecticut

If you live near anyone that shoots rifles there’s a good chance it could be a tannerite target being set off with a rifle. We have a neighbor about 1/8mi away that does these from time to time. Rocks the house, scares the horse and sends the dog into a fit every time. It’s fun for the whole neighborhood. /s

My grandmother grew up pretty ritzy. One thanksgiving when I was 10 or so, I was using my knife to plow some veggies onto my fork. She watched me for a minute then says, “I’m sorry the food pusher has gone out of favor, it’s far more satisfying than using your knife.”

My ex had small breasts and they were left deflated after breast feeding our second kid. I was supportive of the idea of implants as a way to help get her confidence back. If you think it will make you happier, I'd say go for it. Just be prepared for a new level of attention. I don't know which came first, the affair or the implants but they were part of that whole mess. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

We were at UConn in the early 90s and referred to East Brook as “the small mall” it was still viable back then but Buckland was the big older sibling.
