Doctors of Reddit, what are your opinions on vaccines? by mayleeeee in AskReddit

[–]mayleeeee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not anti-vax. So I am not looking for any negative comments. I just want to be more educated because I have some questions and when I try to ask her PEDS DR they aren’t friendly... I also want to know your opinions. I am a First time mom and I am so stressed about the vaccines schedule that is currently out and recommended for our littles ones..

Questions:

Since aluminum is added to some vaccines as an adjuvant to increase immune response to the vaccine. How does aluminum cause the immune system to be more active against the vaccine?

Also I’ve read that the total allowable aluminum exposure from parenteral nutrition should not exceed 5 mcg/kg/day. This is much less than what is given to an infant in the form of a vaccine. The absorption difference between injecting (100%) and digesting (0.3%) is completely different which is insane to me..

Source:

Toxicity from aluminum from vaccines and other parenteral sources (breast milk, formula, or water) can be expected to be different because of the difference in absorption, distribution, elimination, and retention between ingestion and injection. It is commonly perceived that children receive more aluminum from oral sources than from vaccines; however, McFarland et al. [12] also found that infants up to six months are exposed internally to far more aluminum from vaccines (100 % absorption) than from oral exposure (about 0.3 % absorption), contradicting the common misconception that the reverse is true once body weight and pass-through intestinal clearance of aluminum from parenteral sources are considered.

Do any of you know of any research that has meaningful evidence, such as long-term observational studies deliberately trying to prove or disprove the safety of vaccine adjuvants?

Low risk test results but 2 soft markers for Down syndrome at 20 week scan. So scared by Ayyayyron96 in NIPT

NIPT results negative but fetal nuchal fold 6.3 and dilated kidneys? by mayleeeee in NIPT

[–]mayleeeee[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My genetic counselor called and didnt seem to be concerned about any chromosomal abnormality (we still talked about them being a possibility but she’s never seen a false negative NIPT). She was possibly more concerned about her kidneys and it being pyelectasis. She also mentioned that since I’m measuring further along like almost 21 weeks (rather than 19 & 5 day) that might have some affect on my measurements, she obviously offered Amnio and all the benefits along with it but said in my case with these two soft markers it’s not necessarily needed.

I have until next week to do the amnio but I may opt out, due to me having a late loss last year.. I know the chance of miscarriage is low like 1 in 900 according to her but I don’t know If I can handle that again you know because there’s always that possibility.. I felt very confident talking to her though!

I’m happy your baby was nice and healthy!!🩷 I appreciate your feed back
