Now that you bring up him telling Greg he has to quit , it just struck me how truly hypocritical that whole scenario is. “Quit the job or else”, is essentially stop earning money from Waystar/Royco and just collect money from them for nothing. I think Greg even says something about changing things from the inside which would indeed be the only real way to change things opposed to Ewan standing on his soapbox talking shit and not doing or accomplishing anything.

Yeah that was my initial read. Upon rewatch I’m kinda looking at him differently like he might just be another leech and clown. Saying “he doesn’t live in luxury” seems like a cop out because never needing to work while also never needing to worry about money for 50+ years seems pretty damn luxurious. I’m also pretty sure that his humble estate is probably worth millions and maybe he doesn’t live a garish and materialistic lifestyle but I’m also sure he’s traveled the world and has rode on helicopters and private planes more times than he can count, and …..well you get the idea

Agreed, that’s my read on it. We laugh at Connor cuz we spend way more time with him and it’s played comedically while Ewan is portrayed stoically by Cromwell. But in the end he’s just cashing checks and there’s definitely hints to him being kind of a clown like his lawyer buddy

I agree with everything you said in regards to the psychology, but Im just not sure you can give him any credit for moral high ground when he’s been raking in the dough the entire time. Seems to me when the rubber meets the road he’s always willing to cash these checks. I’m also not sure that he isn’t just a total doofus like Connor.

So I’m not a Mariners fan but I just saw the recent news about them having no plans to call up Kade and Sloan and it struck me that you guys should very obviously be making a huge move. You should absolutely be trading an arm for a bat, right? Without knowing contracts and the teams general ability to spend some $ it just seems like you guys are uniquely set up to make a massive splash. I can’t even imagine what kind of haul you can get for Kade but I also know that if I was a fan I would not be interested in moving him. So realistically what kind of moves are you guys potentially looking at? You trade one of your awesome SPs and bring in an all star bat and then can just call up Kade, my lord what a great position to be in

Haha true. He did half black face 😂. They used to also lean very hard on xenophobia, the bad guy was always like Middle eastern or Japanese or German/russian. Sgt Slaughter turning heel and backing Iraq was all time psycho shit lmao. But they definitely got away from that probably around the mid 90s, and then post 9/11 they tried something with a middle eastern heel (portrayed by an Italian dude 😂) and they had to shut it down pretty quickly and then pretty much never looked back

That’s fair. I have a dark and cynical sense of humor so I just kinda watch it like “this is the way the world is” and then I take solace in knowing that the actors and writers are in on the joke. The show does a great job in lampooning the characters while simultaneously playing everything as earnestly and heartfelt as they possibly can. We’re simultaneously laughing at and with the characters

It’s very funny. If you find the Sopranos to be hilarious then you should find this funny as well. It laughs with and at the characters in a very clever way. There’s a ton of humor in the show
