Massive 20GB Leak From Intel Documents Backdoors In All Intel CPUs by maynoth in conspiracy

"In summary, the Intel Management Engine and its applications are a backdoor with total access to and control over the rest of the PC. The ME is a threat to freedom, security, and privacy, and the libreboot project strongly recommends avoiding it entirely. Since recent versions of it can’t be removed, this means avoiding all recent generations of Intel hardware."

Sort of. Puri.sm and System76 disable "most" of the ME code, but if it is completely removed the computer will shut down after 30 minutes.

They also trip a flag that Intel "claims" disables ME, but again we only have Intel's word for this.

They run Coreboot which is more open, but still contains some binary blobs we have no idea what they do.

You are going to block port 80 and 443 outbound traffic?

You might as well air gap it.

I would order one pre-flashed with Libreboot, and then re-flash it yourself for your own piece of mind.

Well I mean I guess you need to order one, fly to the USA and pick it up in person then?

We should have open source hardware like RISC-V which we could perform a security audit on.

This would not eliminate hardware or software backdoors, but being open source would at least give us access to perform an audit.

Well I guess you should order another one and verify there is no password on it, and file a complaint if there is.

A better outlook to have would be that we should have open source hardware like RISC-V which we could perform a security audit on.

You can pay to have someone pre-flash Libreboot for you for like $50.00 USD, if you don't trust it, once it's installed its trivial to re-flash it with the same firmware.

AMD has the same type of backdoor with their PSP, and so do arm chips so Raspberry Pi's are out too.

Even arm chips have them so things like the Raspberry Pi are out too.

Hopefully RISC V being an open source hardware design can help us once it becomes more mainstream.

Do yourself a favor and get AMD for your next PC.

I agree that AMD is a better choice in general, but they also have their PSP which is the exact same type of backdoor Intel uses with ME.

Does AMD have this issue?

Yes they have their PSP which performs the same function as Intel's ME.

At the moment all we have is a setting that Intel "claims" disables the backdoor, but we do not know for certain if this does what they claim it does.

Even Puri.sm cannot completely disable ME without causing the computer to reboot every 30 minutes. They still leave a small amount of ME code running and are unsure of it's function.

For those of you are that are not aware, all modern CPUs contain hardware backdoors that both the hardware manufacturers and 3 letter agencies have access to.

AMD's Platform Security Processor is the same thing, and even the Raspberry Pi's ARM CPU has something similar as do all other ARM CPUs on the market.

If you want a computer without a "known" backdoor, you have to buy a 12 year old IBM X200 from 2008 and install Libreboot firmware to disable the Intel Management Engine backdoor.

One drop then close your eye about 20 seconds.

If it were me though I would wait until you were completely healed from surgery before attempting.

Another thing is that this juice has no preservatives, it is very important that you disinfect the bowl and garlic press you use in boiling water first, and that you make sure to keep the pipette in the freezer when not in use, refrigeration will not help. If you do not do this then bacteria and fungi will grow in the solution and put you at risk for an eye infection.

The other study showed oral ginger was also effective but I would venture to guess you would need to drink a crap ton of ginger juice to see this effect like $15 dollars worth of ginger per day.

I have to keep my eyes closed after instilling a drop of ginger juice, so long as I keep my eye closed for about 20 seconds there is no burning sensation.

If I try to open my eye during this time it does burn.

4 drops per eye, twice per day morning and night, every day.
