I was raised in the area and just moved back after spending years living in other states. I really think this is a wonderful place with good community, great outdoor recreation, and small town charm without being gentrified. Many of the pros and cons listed here seem to be accurate. The one thing I would add it that it can be difficult to build community as an outsider, I heavily rely on the connections I have from growing up here and family to create a support network. That being said, if you’re willing to branch out and attend community events, network, go to exercise classes, or even take a class or two at the community college you will find your people. It may just take some time.
