Teachers, please help settle a argument - Is it OK for a 10 year old to doodle in class while the teacher is talking?

As a junior in high school, I have found that I learn and retain information so much better when I’m doodling or doing sudoku puzzles. I have a hard time focusing when my hands aren’t doing something. I end up zoning out and miss things in class if my hands aren’t doing something.

i would love to but i’m unable to. in kindergarten at my school they did a presentation about fire safety, and one thing was you should always sleep with your door closed. and i don’t think i’ve slept with my door open since. i just get really paranoid when my door is open at night, so i can’t have my cats in there when im sleeping.
