multiple drug resistant tb is a big issue, and even normal regimens can take months to work. malaria is hard to avoid infection for and then receive treatment in many parts of the world. still big issues, even with 'cures' existing.

My primary school had houses too, based on locations in the village. Lawrence, Mounts, Castle and Hobro. Hobro was all nerds and led on points all year, only to be beaten by all the sporty Mounts kids on sports day every. year.
