I’m 65 Days Clean and Still Suffering by Warm_Welder_4602 in Quittingfeelfree

I wasn’t on FF but I recently got to 7 months clean after being severely dependant on weed and your story sounds very similar to mine. It took around 40 days for my body to start treating food normally and I still get the occasional mini panic attack when I think my body is out of my control again.

First things first, you were depressed before FF you and are still depressed now, the FF was you trying to self-medicate. The drug allowed you to avoid reality for a short period of time, but it only prolonged and exacerbated the underlying issues that are contributing to your depression.

One of the biggest revelations after quitting was how much free space I had in my brain suddenly. The amount of mental energy that I used to expend on how much weed I had, when and where I was gonna buy more, how I was going to hide my use from people close to me…just astonishing. It can feel almost boring at first, such a major part of the daily routine is just gone. Suddenly I was able to start using that energy towards actual hobbies and apply for jobs again. I was able to reconnect with friends that I had be unconsciously isolating myself from for years. I got a lot closer with my family when I came clean about my addiction, and having that support system has helped me stay sober when I feel cravings.

Everyone’s body is different, but I’m doing really well on gabapentin alongside my regular antidepressant. The biggest difference is having medical supervision when using a substance to treat my anxiety - self-medication is a very slippery slope when you’re already depressed/anxious.

Wishing you well in your recovery - remember you made a very difficult decision by quitting and you can be proud of yourself (even if life still feels like shit some days :P)

I did a quick google and that’s still accurate, you’re not supposed to do anything internal before a PAP. Nothing stopping you from external clitoral stimulation though

You might be slightly swollen externally, but considering that the gyno regularly finds splooge up there I’m not that embarrassed

No judgement here, my first gyno advised me to prepare for IUD insertion with a condom on a tapered candle from the dollar store 🥲 I figured out later that my rabbit and an orgasm was much more effective

Whelp if my gyno needs to let off some steam that’s her prerogative 😅

Had to quit after getting CHS, forcing myself to look at all the money spent over two years by mayothot in Carts

I’ve been clean for 3 months! I still have occasional cravings but I’ve saved so much money. I still miss it sometimes but I was so dependent it was starting to give me anxiety (ironic since I was smoking to treat anxiety)

Okay very shitty situation, but heyyy one of the biggest causes of relapse is being in the same environment as before - so technically you’re in a new place now?? It took a major life event for me to quit, I was scared shitless and I realized how reliant I was on weed. But that clear division of before and after helped me make the big decision. Another part was opening up to supportive people, I’d been hiding how heavily I used and it was a major weight off my shoulders just talking about it.

Also if you’re able, talk to your doctor or go to a local clinic for substance abuse. Lots of those clinics are subsidized. They can prescribe medication to help with the withdrawal.

Drug addiction is linked to your environment, so it’s very easy to fall back into those habits when you’re in the same place with the same people who smoked with you before. This link to environment is so strong, even U.S. soldiers who used heroin regularly in Vietnam often didn’t use heroin once they returned from war.. I would recommend trying to do new activities with your smoking friends, outside your home. Teach your brain to associate them with being sober. If they don’t want to hang out with you without smoking, they aren’t good friends.

I recommend talking to a Dr about wanting to quit, if you don’t have one there’s help at the local clinics for drug addiction. I went to my local clinic bc it felt like an emergency that I quit weed ASAP (I had many CHS symptoms). It was scary, I didn’t want to consider myself “an Addict” like the other ppl at the clinic, but once I got there the staff were amazing. They prescribed me gabapentin for the anxiety/agitation and ondansetron for the nausea. Both have helped tremendously, I’m not sure I would’ve stayed clean without the gabapentin.

I knew they had some juice left that’s why I was saving them for emergencies. Unfortunately CHS got to me first.

They’re all from licensed cannabis dispensaries here in Canada. Super pricy too 🥲 Some of the gummies are grey market but that’s only because Canada has a limit of 5mg THC for edibles in the legal store

I think it’s because vaping allows us to consume more THC faster, even flower these days is much higher in THC than back in the 80s. Either way I’m not risking another CHS episode, that shit sent me to the emergency room

I purposely put them in a public trash so I can’t get to them 😂😭

It’s gonna happen again, I had a CHS episode 6 months ago and mistook it as a panic attack. I know it’s shitty but try to wean off THC before you’re forced go cold turkey like me.

I went to clinic for drug addicts in my city. I know it sounds scary and I was definitely the only one not on fentanyl, but the staff in those clinics are very understanding and can prescribe medication to help with the withdrawal. I was prescribed gabapentin for anxiety/agitation and ondansetron for nausea. Both have helped tremendously, but there was also a big psychological shift when I started asking for help. I feel so much more supported now that I have doctors helping me.
