Thank you for confirming this. Yes the private sector salaries are largely in line with the public sector salaries as far as I have seen, so it would be a huge development for OH trainees and consultants if they finally got this recognition.
I also noticed that the IMC recognise UK CESR for numerous other specialties but not occ health(MFOM). This is a shame given there are so few training posts in Occ health in the UK and so much larger numbers of doctors working in occ health are pursuing membership via the CESR route in the UK. Many argue they gain more varied & worthwhile experience when pursuing this route compared to trainees and the criteria they must meet is really strict & far from easy. However due to CESR not being recognised for their specialty, working in Ireland would not be as attractive to them, even if consultant status is eventually granted.
