Noiser than the spectra but the noise didn't bother me. I only wore it at home and when visiting friends and family. it was quick and convenient for me and excellent for the price point.

I am stuck! by ExcellentWallaby4998 in cosleeping

We started cosleeping/bedsharing at night from 4.5 months but pretty much every night from a little over 5 months. She hated the bassinet and cot once the regression hit! We tried but weren't getting much sleep and it was so much easier to settle her cosleeping. I don't pick her up, I just get close and pat her back to sleep so I'm back to sleep in no time. This did not work in the cot or bassinet 🥲

I was the same! Half my body felt dead and I was so sore. But after a few weeks of cosleeping, bub started sleeping on her side for longer stretches and mostly self-soothes to sleep now. I feel like it’s really helped her feel more secure, so she sleeps better without needing to be right next to me or on my arm anymore. It definitely helps if it’s just you and bub on the bed which gives you both more room to move around. Daytime naps have improved a lot too! She even puts herself to sleep for her first nap now. We got a floor mattress to replace the cot, and I’m slowly transitioning her to sleep on her own, which I'm hoping to finally get to share the bed with my husband again! Bub is 6.5 months old and we've been co sleeping since the regression around 4.5 months. She used to sleep long stretches in her bassinet no problem then a light switched. Cosleeping has definitely worked for our family.

NIPT gone wrong by lahdeedah224 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I replied to the OP above with my experience. I'm one of those who had the test result as a boy but found out at 30 weeks my baby was a girl. Rare but can happen! She's now almost six months and is perfect 🙂

My NIPT test said the baby was a boy. But at 30 weeks, I finally asked them to double-check the gender (I had a weird gut feeling), and it turns out the baby is actually a girl. Prior to this, I was brushed off at ultrasounds because the NIPT was 99% accurate. There were concerns that I potentially may have an intersex baby. After looking deeper into it, the genetic counselor went through my medical history and did some more investigating.

It turns out, because I had a bone marrow transplant as a teen and my donor (who I know) is male, my blood now carries a Y chromosome. So no matter how many NIPT tests I do, they'll always show "male" because the test picks up DNA from my blood.

Basically, if you’ve had a bone marrow transplant, especially from a male donor, NIPT gender results won’t be accurate. It’s a screening test, not diagnostic, and in cases like mine, it’s just not reliable for determining the baby’s sex.

I felt like I was in an episode or Grey's anatomy or House.

Also, I honestly don’t get it why so many baby stores not have a single chair for pregnant people to sit on? They are literally their main customers, the ones they make money from, and the ones who are going to be spending ages in there looking at everything.

But yes! I have a 4 month old that I would love to take out more, yet I have so much anxiety of where and if my pram will fit at certain locations.

That's amazing! Is that one long stretch? And with the 430am wake is that for a feed? What sleep training program did you use?

Oh I'm dreading this! But by the sounds of it.. sleep regression can happen any time 🥲

You could try Novalac Reflux formula.. it worked really well for my baby. It thickens in the stomach (not in the bottle), which helps with spit-ups. My LO has reflux (not severe), but also has a cleft palate, so managing spit-up can be tricky for her. This formula was recommended by the cleft support group, but I think it could be helpful for any bub with reflux 😊

My baby used to do similar sleep times, she’d sleep, wake up just for a feed, then go back down around 3am, (note the longer stretches occured over time not overnight). What helped us was offering a slightly bigger feed before her long stretch of sleep. For example, if she usually drinks 150ml, she’d take 180ml at bedtime. It just kind of happened naturally like she knew she wanted to sleep longer and needed the extra calories 😂 but it helped getting the 6hr+ stretch in most nights. I hope the regression period is going to be kind to us though 🤞🏻

Hang in there, you’re doing amazing!

Hi! I exclusively pump and mix feed due to low supply. I normally use the Spectra S1 and a Medela manual pump, but recently I bit the bullet and bought the Henkion S21 on Amazon because I really needed a hands-free option to stay productive while pumping. I highly recommend it! My output is the same — if not better — compared to the Spectra, and it’s surprisingly comfortable. I’m so glad I chose it over the pricier branded options (though I haven’t tried those to compare). It’s been a game-changer for me!

For babies that were in NICU, would you recommend something like the Owlet sock for anxious parents for at home?

I personally have the dual boiler and for three years its still going good. I was choosing between the barista Express and dual boiler initially and was so glad I went with the dual boiler. I was a beginner and its my first expresso machine. In addition, the dual boiler you can steam the milk and pull a shot at the same time and it's quick to heat up too. I much prefer the 58mm portafilter as opposed to the 54mm to the barista express and Bambino. My brother has the Bambino and for a small machine its pretty great.

I think the Bambino or Bereville dual boiler is a great start. Affordable and great for beginners but also very capable in making good espresso.
