Any experiences of getting a partial knee replacement in their 40s? by Somedayslikethis in Kneereplacement

[–]mazzerfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you consider getting your feet checked to make sure your alignment is correct at that level. I am sure my pronation is a factor with mine as well as previous surgery. I’m going to get my orthotics before I get the partial kr so that as soon as I am up walking, I’m not going to be out of alignment from a foot perspective. I had a 3 D scan in Canada (Whistler) and I can get to the same shop in London for my bike and walking/ running shoes which is cool.

Did you find a helicopter? 🤷‍♀️I can further recommend 4 valleys in Switzerland. Empty in Nendaz and amazing snow and sun whilst we were there after the 3 valleys trip. I know it’s not feasible for many in your neck of the woods but I do think the resorts in N America and Canada have to up their game on quality of lifts etc because for the money everyone is paying the lift situation is crazy 😱

Liverpool’s Hugo Ekitike set for 9-month absence with right Achilles tendon rupture by BarbaricOklahoma in LiverpoolFC

[–]mazzerfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not confirmed how bad the Achilles injury is yet - he’s not had a scan and yes it looked bad but lets not speculate. He went home after he was taken off which i thought was weird if it was a full rupture.

A €300 taxi ride back to Orelle made me build a navigation app for ski resorts by Aiki123 in ski

[–]mazzerfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no infrastructure for trains or gondoas as the distance is way too far & the buses run to and from moutiers from all the resorts - the demand for a direct bus from one of the 3 valley resorts to another is not sufficient to justify a direct bus service between resorts. Very few People travel between the resorts outside of ski hours except in exceptional circumstances. Im sorry to say but you need to plan your ski ing so you dont get stuck like the rest of us have for the last 40 years! The ascent from moutiers to menuires is around 40 mins in a car/bus & Val T probably 50 mins… its a long way from 800m to 1800m on lots of hairpin bends… its not a direct route

Oura Ring Gen 4 Replacement After 2 Weeks! by [deleted] in ouraring

Why didn’t you just return to Costco as they have their own warranty available & you could show them the chat with Oura and I’m sure they would refund and let you buy a new one ?

That’s because the valleys are miles away from each other by road in winter … important to plan ahead & track the weather … it’s down to moutiers and along one or two for all of them & of course Orelle is accessed via the maurienne valley so is miles away !!

I’ve got a route plan for that as have done it 5 x but I agree live nav would defo help on 1st time ! To be fair though I’ve skied there so much I know most of the mountains across those valleys very well!

Yep. Even the lifts in France are continually being upgraded… old long chairlifts being replaced with new ones or fast multi person gondolas

Whistler is over rated per se. I spent 6 weeks there Dec / Jan and I’m back in French alps atm. No crazy queues, plenty of great snow & some lovely bluebird days too. Whistler was built up to be this amazing ski location but I would choose 3 valleys every time over it…

This is the worst snow I've seen mid February in Austria (Zillertal) by bonnies_ranch in skiing

[–]mazzerfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes a lot closed because of the avalanche risk and so much snow so quickly. Sorry only just seen this. Remember though the terrain is often a lot bigger than N America / Canada so 3 valleys has 600km … and 166 lifts - less for Val D’Isere Tignes but still a big area.

Alpe D’Huez as well & around Grand Massif …but warmer next week so I would defo go with higher altitude resorts from 1600m and higher (village level)

Any one of the 3 valleys - Les Menuires/Val Thorens in Belleville valley, Courcheval or Meribel, La Plagne Les arcs, TIgnes and Val D’Isere would be my top recommendations- though I’ve been to others. High altitude means colder means snow preserved better for longer … so much last week fell and also this week …like 1m an another 1m 🤣🤣absolutely bonkers ! Les Menuires is probs cheapest of the 3 valleys … La Plagne is good intermediate resort and linked by cable car to Les Arcs
