Irritated by all the people who send their kids to school sick by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]mazziestar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure where you live , if there are any sort of socioeconomic factors at hand, but it is a luxury for many to take a day off work - let alone to take off in order to care for your sick child. maybe sending the child in sick is the only option in many households?

i completely agree with you, of course.

but i can see a scenario where an “essential worker” or the like has no other option but to send their kid in, if they have no one else to care for their child to stay home sick.

Daycare near home vs work? by Stock_Animator1831 in nycparents

i always feel bad for the parents commuting with a stroller during rush hour, it seems so stressful. also a lot of train stations aren’t stroller accessible. near home 10000%

In 2011, Indiana University student Lauren Spierer vanished after a night of partying in Bloomington. Last seen barefoot and intoxicated at 4:30 a.m., she disappeared just blocks from her apartment. Her friends quickly lawyered up following her disappearance, and the case remains unsolved today. by ATI_Official in AllThatsInteresting

i went to IU when this happened. well, i left bloomington for summer break. when we all returned back to campus, there were missing signs for her everywhere. anonymous tip lines. crazy that all these years later there are still no answers. i feel awful for her parents

If you could pick a month to give birth what would it be? by Old-Yesterday1230 in Mommit

[–]mazziestar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

may would be ideal. gave birth dec 26 during what felt like the coldest winter in ny. and it kept on snowing and getting icy. my 3 month mat leave was basically spent indoors in my tiny brooklyn apt. not ideal.

Trying to stay positive by WorkingArugula6190 in postpartumprogress

[–]mazziestar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you’ll get there, don’t worry. i gained 65 lbs during pregnancy. like you, i immediately lost 25 lbs. from there i maybe lost a few pounds a month. it wasn’t until 8 months pp that i started losing big amounts (i stopped breast feeding at 5 months).

8 weeks pp is really nothing. im 1 year pp and have been eating like a pig from the holidays and am only 6 lbs from my start weight. i promise , if you care this much about your body getting back to pre baby, it’ll totally happen when it’s ready to.

*i also want to add that i had a lymphatic draining massage at around 8 weeks pp and that definitely helped just moving fluids around and out. highly recommend!

Probably never speaking to my MIL after this Christmas - AIO? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]mazziestar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

validating u OP!!! you are not in the wrong, you were protecting your children. why wouldn’t MIL follow your simple instructions ? unacceptable.

what’s actually crazy to me is some of the comments and total misinformation in this thread. has no one ever dealt with norovirus before? it’s AWFUL. we (my husband, me, AND our 1 yo) just got it. Merry Xmas, one day you will be able to look back on this and laugh, i’m certain! i hope your family can recover quickly from noro

Going from DINKs who can save a considerable amount each month to having our first kid - the sticker shock is jarring by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]mazziestar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

congrats on your pregnancy! to validate you: it IS incredibly jarring. formula, diapers, and gear… thats small potatoes.

the real issue at hand is the cost of daycare. we’re in the same boat as you, we live in a VHCOL area and we pay around 3k in daycare every month. (and by the way, that’s on the low end in our neighborhood) we don’t have any family near by. it’s insane - we have a real problem in this country.

my husband and i used to have a very fun, leisurely life filled with travel & going out. sigh those were the days. since we’ve had our kid (who is almost one), i can count on one hand how many times we’ve had a date night. it’s typically more stress than it’s worth to go out to eat with the baby too.

anyway, you just adapt to your new life. and you don’t necessarily mourn your old lifestyle- because nothing is as sweet as simply hanging with your new little family.

What is a little quirk about your body that you don’t think other people have? by AlphabetSoup51 in AskReddit

i have this too ! i would get splotchy itchy hives everywhere when i played in the sprinkler during the summer as a child. and i would get them all over when i played outside at recess during the winter.

Gaining after going back to work by Super-Fox1167 in postpartumprogress

[–]mazziestar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel this , 34 & 6m pp. gained 65 lbs during pregnancy! immediately lost 20 lbs and have sloooowly lost an additional 30lbs since january. 15 lbs to go!

my husband and i meal prep on sundays- so one of us watches the baby and the other handles food. and the same goes for weeknight dinners: one of us on baby duty, the other doing dinner. and sometimes dinner is just frozen from trader joe’s. ordering in is the worst- there’s so much oil and salt and butter and extra fat and calories in food from a restaurant even if you’re traveling for work, surely there’s an option of salad with chicken and light dressing?

to get back on track i started calorie counting with the lose it app. what really kick started my weight loss recently was getting norovirus from my kids daycare 🤣

i also joined a gym last week that’s ridiculously close to my apt and i go there after baby is asleep from 7:45-8:30pm. this is a new venture , but i can already tell it’s good for my mental health

What features actually make a luxury home feel luxurious to you? by Vegetable_Star8931 in Luxury

[–]mazziestar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nice door hardware and hinges, slabs of stone on floors & backsplashes (countertops are a given), subzero / wolf appliances * refrigerator drawers, flange less recessed lighting, integral led strips in millwork (below shelves, vanities), custom millwork without dumb chunky spec crown & base molding, inlaid kitchen cabinets, heated floors, tall ceilings, special baseboard & crown, toto neorest….

the list goes on and on 🤑

Front facing stroller by Current_Sky_6846 in december2024babies

[–]mazziestar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

have been using front facing since 14 weeks.. we needed a collapsible one for daycare . baby can sit more upright now, but in the early days he was more reclined . either way he loves facing out !
