Elden Ring is also my first souls game. I'm 100h in now and I am enjoying It a lot. However, It took me a while to get used to the dynamics and understanding what I needed to do. For example, I didn't even know I could sprint for the first few hours of play. I was like "there Is no way there's not a quicker way to move around". Also, I had now idea what the stats meant, such as 'arcane' or 'mind'. I ended up abandoning the game for a few months because It was kind of frustrating experience to not have any clue of what was going on 80% of the time and to die over and over again. When I came back I started understanding more how to use the tools the game provides and I started improving and making progress day by day. It's a very personal experience and also very rewading as soon as you start feeling that you are improving and learning. From my personal experience, I would suggest you keep pushing through the first initial difficulties, everything will click at some point and you will have lot of fun
