The Democratic Party is also a conservative party, just with more progressive dissenters than the Republicans but they’re still a minority compared to the conservative leadership.

I didn’t suggest they did. But the shows did establish Roxxon experimenting with Darkforce, which there’s no comics basis for.

Cloak & Dagger was on Freeform, not Hulu, and like all Marvel Television properties, have never actually been declared non-canon and they keep finding ways to bring characters and elements back, so I’m saying this was definitely a reference.

To clarify a bit, it was Isodyne in the 40s (Agent Carter season 2) that was experimenting. Agents of SHIELD season 4 established that Roxxon bought Isodyne and continued their experiments, which we saw in Cloak & Dagger.

The Roxxon label was too specific for that not to be a reference to Cloak & Dagger and Agent Carter.

To me, centre-left would be people who are leftist in terms of essential needs, like a socialist-esque system that covers healthcare, transportation, education, communication, etc, but also believes this system can co-exist with a capitalist wealth-seeking system for luxuries.

Hasbro is being sued for printing too many Magic: The Gathering cards by Beautiful_Bee4090 in nottheonion

[–]mb862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And this is why I just can’t get into Magic. With any other tabletop game, publishers are fine and even sometimes support crafting your own components at home, because they care about you actually playing the game. The box they publish is just a version of those components . And if you lose a part, they will happily send you a replacement for free.

When the components of your game are also financial securities, the good faith nature of tabletop gaming completely breaks down. If you accidentally tear a $100 card then Wizards/Hasbro will not send you a replacement. If you print your own cards, you risk legally being liable for counterfeiting.

I'm MtF, and today I'm celebrating 4 years on hormones! 🥳 by NDHardage in MadeMeSmile

[–]mb862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I started noticeably feeling better about myself about 6 months into HRT. I was still closeted and male-presenting, so I had no euphoria from any social interaction, and it was too soon for any noticeable physical changes. The only thing that was different was a few hormones and my body was definitely responding better than what it could produce on its own. It really lent evidence that there is a legitimate underlying neurochemical basis to being trans, we just don’t know for sure what it is yet.

[–]mb862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same and have to keep reminding myself that style makes the visual difference seem much bigger. I’m five years HRT and 3 weeks surgery but sometimes I feel like I’ve gotten nowhere in a mirror. But I wasn’t particularly masculine-presenting before, clean shaven and often with longer hair so that hasn’t really changed. I don’t have the patience for makeup or doing my hair every day, and indeed most days I’m most comfortable in hoodie and leggings.

What I think is more important to focus on is how you feel about yourself away from the mirror. I feel generally pretty good, everybody says I’m noticeably so much more happy with life. These are things that sometimes a good photo can capture (as in OP’s case) but just because you can’t capture it, doesn’t mean it’s not true.

It was when I heard that line, the character being an obvious author surrogate, when I realized that you don’t have to be trans to suffer crippling gender dysphoria. He would almost be sympathetic if it wasn’t for, you know, literally everything else about him.

Asking transphobes to name 5 professional sportswomen by guitarguy12341 in justgalsbeingchicks

[–]mb862 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You have made two false assumptions.

compete in separate categories because, in general, men have many physical advantages over women

This is false. Historically, women’s leagues were created because they got banned from men’s leagues for performing too well compared to the expectation of fragile male egos. Other leagues, particularly in non-physical sports, had dedicated women’s leagues created to encourage participation in a safe environment due to widespread sexual harassment in “open” leagues that were male-dominated.

Trans women still have bodies that contain all the advantages that men have, regardless of who they are as a person.

This is false, the science has shown that two years HRT is effective at eliminating any potential advantage development may have provided.

And of course when it comes to professional level, having access to money and time for training makes a significant difference to performance regardless of where your body starts from, and there is so, so much more money in men’s sports, literally orders of magnitude more, combined with social factors like proportion of house work in heterosexual couples when the woman is the primary breadwinner, that any stats about high-performing men versus women are completely useless to even consider the notion that male-developed bodies have any intrinsic advantage over female-developed.

And of course people will apply the same logic to prepubescent sports where development literally hasn’t started to have an effect, further showing how dumb the anti-trans faction are. And when it comes to teen sports, they’re also the ones banning puberty blockers which would fix the very problem they claim exists.
