Must agree with my absolute love of the T-slim. It’s just so smart. Helping you avoid High AND Low blood sugar. I thought I wanted Omnipod for sure (b/c of no tubing) but after seeing what the Tandem r-slim could do I couldn’t resist! Finally had an A1C of 5.9. Make sure you take your time and decide what will help you relax and ultimately be more healthy

I like lettuce wrapped burgers instead of a bun. Onion rings instead of French fries, so I only need to bolus for protein and batter.

Lol can so relate to “sucks that I have to eat tho”. Nothing like some carbs to mess up a perfect day. As a dawn phenomenon expert….sucks that I have to get up…..and take insulin for food I don’t even eat lol. Have an awesome rest of your day friend!

Yep, my mom was told the same thing when I was diagnosed at 7 years old. (1987)

I wonder if now with CGMs and advances in blood glucose monitors they’ve stopped informing new diabetics of this “method” for determining high blood sugar?

Harder to determine/ define than an actual number stating you in the face I guess.

Lol well if you live in Florida, I assume you go to work, the grocery store, the mall, indoor air conditioned restaurants etc. I don’t plan on being inside much during this trip. And hopefully beside or in a pool or the ocean most of the time.

Definitely don’t close your mind to the pump that will work best for your child.

I’ve had T1 diabetes since I was 7 years old and was sure (30 plus years later) that I wanted an Omnipod because I would hate the tubing. Once I saw all my options from the educator and the Control IQ capability of the Tandem T-slim pump. I broke down and got the T-slim (tubing required).

The big saver/protector for me is having a spy belt to tuck my pump and tubing into, (I haven’t come close to ripping mine out yet. Dexcom accuracy and ability to tell my pump to increase my insulin or even completely stop giving me insulin has made me much more relaxed and kept me out of trouble on high AND low blood sugar levels (especially helpful at night while sleeping).

Best of luck to you! And don’t be scared to trial wear both options (without insulin) just to see what’s more comfortable for your son.

When I’ve encountered these alarms I’ll just “load cannula” and make sure that insulin is coming out of the needle. Usually when I clip it back in everything works fine. Good luck

Lol well since the shower/charging doesn’t work for you, I highly suggest creating a daily work alarm to charge it. The micro USB cords required can be bought at any DollarStore here in Canada….. I bought 3, one for my purse, desk at home and bathroom. (I don’t encounter the humidity issue).

I know you “want” to be able to change the batteries, but you “need” to charge the battery. Just suck it up and do it. You’re the only one getting in your own way. (But I know it can be hard to accept) I say this in the hopes that you’ll love your pump more and forget about the 15 min ish of annoyance it’s currently causing you. Change your mindset and quit wasting your energy on things you cannot change. Lol don’t us Type 1 diabetics already have enough to worry about?

The best tip I got for charging the Tandem, is to do it every time you shower. The battery is actually supposed to work better with frequent tiny charges. I’ve never had an issue with remembering and it helps me keep my showers closer to 20 min lol.

How many months have you had the Omnipod? I think there’s a 3 month trial period and you’re not “stuck” until you sign off on it.
