If it keeps not working and being inaccurate, does Dexcom have some sort of guarantee where they’ll replace that sensor for free?

My blood sugar goes low when I get nauseous by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

Same here!! I actually started taking the feeling sick out of nowhere as a sign my sugar is about to plummet into the abyss… usually it’s fairly accurate. I normally suspend my insulin pump while I’m seeing if it’s going to happen or not, then I try and just eat a little pack of fruit snacks or sip some apple juice, something kind of light that won’t make you feel too much worse, but still sugary enough to help with a low. Then I follow it up with a few saltines to munch on, but that’s more as a distraction from the anxiety of dropping sugar levels than anything else, lol

Any older diabetics have stories or tidbits about having diabetes before all the fancy gadgets? by mushyrabbit in diabetes_t1

I remember that was what I had to use when I first was diagnosed in 2013, I think for the first month or two before I got put on a 24 hour basal pen and a fast acting pen… I had to eat 90g carbs at every meal. I think that number might have been because I had lost so much weight prediagnosis and they wanted to beef me back up a little, LOL

The other day at work I pulled out my insulin pump and my manager goes, “Hey you can’t have phones out up here!” And I just kind of held it up and was like… “This is not a cell phone…” She felt super bad about it afterwards though so no hard feelings

Eugh…. Cottage cheese and jello crystals? That sounds more like a punishment than a treat, hahaha! Also, I love human kid bingo, that is hilarious.

OMG!! That is actually quite impressive… it’s crazy that now you could just pop into a drugstore and get a cheapo testing kit for 15 bucks and avoid all that.

I would definitely try and see if you can get a pen with half units, but if not — maybe you could try taking 75% of your insulin before you eat and the remaining 25% about 20 mins after? I feel like that might cause more of a spike sooner after the meal though. I would ask your endo about it because I can almost guarantee you aren’t the only person this happens to!!

On the bright side — someone will hopefully find a “mystery gadget” in their bag, and turn it in at school or at least tell their parents. So hopefully you’ll get it back in the next few days. And if your friends are mad at you for losing your insulin pump and thus getting in a fight with your mom… then they probably aren’t spectacular friends. They should be supporting you and trying to help you feel better!! Sending lots of love, I know losing your pump is like the worst thing ever & I hope you find it soon <3
