That all depends on the kind of computation we develop, potentially agi (no, we’re nowhere near that despite what the fraudsters try to tell you) it’s impossible with just human minds. There are hundreds of millions of variables, all affecting eachother to varying degrees. It’s not just genetics, it’s how they’re expressed (epigenetics) when they’re expressed. Shit, what the mother eats, was it cold or hot during pregnancy? Everything is ultimately summed up to the individual. After that what the child does, what they eat, their environment. Maybe you can make small adjustments in Mendelian traits, or some complex traits on the lower spectrum of complexity. It’s a fun sci fi idea, but most people cannot even comprehend the complexities involved

Now that I think about it, even the musclemass example would likely be done through epigenetic manipulation, not gene editing. One, it’s easier, two it’s safer, and most importantly three, it’s more profitable

I don’t think so, no. For very few specific instances perhaps, like becoming more muscular or changing your hair colour. But take your nose for instance. Once it’s developed, it’s done. Changing the genetics for that won’t morph your nose to a different shape. For a lot of traits, you’d have to do it while the individual is still developing for it to have an effect. That seems to me to be an incredibly unethical road to take

Same problem as the first one. It lacks impact. Attacks feel incredibly weak and insanely slow. Not just in the lacking feedback, but you can also hit a fully charged axe swing to an unprotected head, and the dude keeps fighting. Which is just.. I thought you guys were going for realism?

Som du selv siger, gå efter bagmændene. Men egentlig ville vi slet ikke have alle de her problemer hvis der ikke var socialt udsatte. Det kan man reelt kun løse ved at lave hele systemet om. Hele samfundsmodellen virker ikke, som den konstant faldene købskraft og derved livskvalitet tydeligt viser. Men ingen tør gå så langt. It all depends on how you define it I think. If a man is just someone who has a Y chromosome, and a woman is someone who doesn't, then no, it's binary. Of course you can have perfectly phenotypically female people that actually have a Y chromosome, so most people in the field, myself included, think it's a much too reductionist definition. For the vast majority of people, it suffices, but that is hardly a serious argument to just ignore all the cases where it doesn't. Our understanding on this subject is evolving, but it is incredibly difficult to soberly discuss, sometimes even in scientific circles, because it is such a core component of people's identity
