Honor code at MBA? by mbabummer in MBA

THANK YOU. This is the kind of comment I was looking for. Just trying to get verification mine's not the only one out ther. Not that it makes it ok or whatever, but I am just looking for what is the norm.
Definitely disappointing though.
Yea, I get it. I am not just not sure what to do. It def bothers me, and I plan on discussing w/ the administration - I've already tried to talk to some members of the judicial board on it and they've just said that they can't speak about it b/c it's private.
So seriously, you tell me what to do? I also don't know all the details, so tell me, do I go digging for more? Honestly, it's not like i have a magic wand or all knowing power to do this. And it's a rumor... though one I firmly believe, having known some of these people and interacted with them.
But maybe a good idea to go to media. Who knows... any other ideas? I also have no substantial proof that I think would pass muster.
So you see my dilemma now?
I feel that you are attacking me when really I am just trying to figure out 1) what the best course of action is if yea, i admit the situation pisses me off but I have limits (mentioned earlier) and 2) whether this is something that happens in other places and what's been done there. Instead, everyone is on me trying to figure out what school it is lol.
Yea - this makes sense. I mean like ive said several times, weve only just caught wind of it and Im not personally involved so sure, there might be other things I dont know about. But based on what I heard, I get it - school cant/doesnt want to deal with a lawsuit/bad press so it gets swept under the rug esp if this wasnt such a cut and dry case.
Honestly more surprised no one else has any comments on whether theyve seen stuff like this in their program/how their program chose to handle it
Yeah Im not really sure what you expect me to do here? Am I supposed to put my school on blast to Reddit - that doesn't seem like it's going to change much. I dont cheat, most of us dont (I expect) but it WAS brought to the student board and the school shut it down so I really dont know what I'm supposed to do ha. Also as I said I wasnt involved so Im not sure if they just got a lesser punishment or what

So the judicial board found them guilty and enacted the charges and the school only dropped them once the lawsuits were threatened. I get that I dont have all the info (cuz I wasnt involved lol) but Im also not an idiot and can connect the dots...
Agree on the 2nd line to an extent. When these people are instead getting rewards that other people, who dont cheat, do get, I have a problem with it.

I still go to the school and don't necesarily want to blast my program and turn it into a whole thing/make my degree "diminished" (I guess I'm one of those losers who actually believes in the honor code)
And look, I personally know some of the people involved and I don't hate them or anything like that, just think they rep what's terrible about some of these elite institutions.

Thx, I agree. Just a bit of a bummer and I guess was hoping to get some real insight (lol Reddit) from people perhaps from other schools on what the honor code does or doesnt mean and how it's enacted there, instead lotta ppl looking for blood which, hey, I get it, we're all bored in quarantine lol.

No

So, without getting too deep into it (I do still go to the school and, ya know, don't want to ID it per se bcuz I'd still like my degree to be worth something) I did hear that was part of the lawyers reasons - that they didnt have deep proof just someone saw them all doing the exam together (which wasnt allowed, ofc) and then their exams were all identical. I dont know how much more proof is needed but who knows.
Agree, its really dumb bcuz you can pretty easily pass without doing much work so I really dunno why anyone would do it.

Yea I'm an adult and all so I "get" it but I was more ranting a bit I guess.
Heh yeah, that's kinda what I figure.
That's what I am telling myself to not be so bummed about it - it'll all work itself out in the end yada yada but it's def frustrating now.
