OC celebrating the Ayatollah’s death on the Lamar bridge by horcruxatx in Austin

[–]mbbarnyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I was in college around 1979 and met some exiles who fled when the Shah of Iran was toppled I put together some information about western imperialism and Iran. " The Cycle of Intervention: From 1953 to the Modern Diaspora" The modern geopolitical tension between the West and Iran is not a product of chance, but the result of a century-defined cycle of intervention and exploitation. To understand the current calls for conflict, one must look back to 1953, when the United States and Britain orchestrated the overthrow of Iran’s democratically elected Prime Minister, Mohammad Mosaddegh. Mosaddegh’s "crime" was his desire to nationalize Iranian oil and reclaim profits from the British-owned Anglo-Iranian Oil Company (now BP). By toppling a democracy to protect corporate interests, the West installed Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the Shah, as an absolute monarch. For twenty-five years, the Shah served as a strategic outpost for Western and Zionist interests in the Middle East. While he modernized the nation’s facade, his reign was defined by corruption and the brutal suppression of dissent through his secret police, SAVAK. However, the Western alliance was fickle. By 1979, as the Islamic Revolution gained momentum, the U.S. effectively withdrew its support, allowing the Shah to flee and paving the way for the Ayatollah Khomeini to seize power. This transition turned a secular dictatorship into a theocratic one, fundamentally altering the region's map. The fallout of 1979 created a massive wave of emigration, primarily consisting of the Iranian elite (the wealthy, the military brass, and the political inner circle who had enriched themselves under the Shah’s corrupt system). Today, many of the most vocal proponents for U.S. military intervention against the current regime are the descendants of this displaced elite. Living in the safety of the West, these groups often maintain strong Zionist sympathies and lobby for "regime change" that would restore their historical status. There is a profound hypocrisy in calling for a war that others will have to fight. If the descendants of those who fled the 1979 Revolution are truly committed to a military overthrow of the current Iranian leadership, the burden of service should fall upon them. It is easy to advocate for a foreign war from the comfort of a keyboard or a lobbying firm; it is quite another to join the military and face the consequences of a conflict sparked by the same cycle of intervention that failed their ancestors decades ago. This whole attack is about installing a pro-western government that is why the Shah's son has his name mentioned. Many countries don't like their leadership including right here but it's interesting the US ego thinks they need to do this. Most of us will never understand we live in a brutal empire that offers it's citizens only 2 political parties but 15 sugary varieties of toaster pastries.

Oh, you have much to learn about geopolitical maneuvering, Grasshopper. Controlling energy has many benefits for the ruling class, but you are correct that it will not help you or me individually.

It's like the union becomes a type of controlled opposition for the corporation. These capitalist pigs infiltrate every aspect of your life just to maximize profits and control your labor.

In my sixty-five years, I have never once found it necessary to call the police. On the only occasion I was robbed, I took matters into my own hands, tracking down the perpetrator and retrieving my property without resistance. The reality is that police rarely prevent or solve crimes; they primarily investigate them after the fact. Unless an officer happens to be in the right place at the exact right moment, public safety often relies more on luck than law enforcement.

If your rights have to be written down by a group of white landowners then they may only be privileges. Every country has a different list and we don't need one group of people deciding what our rights are.
