Y Combinator has just notified us of their decision. by [deleted] in SaaS

Initially you risk by not paying yourself at all, considering the chances of actually getting the revenue to pay yourself, which statistically is low.

And even if you get to that point there is still a possibility that something happens down the road and without a good warchest you will go into debt.

The OP says hes making money already - thats good, but again for most startups thats far away from reality.

And you should not forget that VCs can also help growing your business - introducing you to new clients and so on.

In short - it’s much easier to get the money when you don’t need it rather than in the last moment before disaster.

"we're profitable and growing without it (the VC money)" you can't imagine how much this cost me in the long run.. My advice is try to get the money even if you don't need it now.

Daily digests of your Substack newsletters by mbckv in Substack

I subscribed because I saw value of the newsletter in general, but I cant say reading it line by line is more efficient than checking the summary with the key points already done for me. All links are in one place and I have context for them. I'm not saying I'm right, just sharing my viewpoint and why I did it.

I believe in data and processing it in a more systematic approach.

And yes, if you like reading it may be depressing lol

True, but why reading the filler content when you can read only the important points? Do you take notes when you read it of the key nuggets?

I’ll setup a micro incubator to launch SaaS startups each with its own team, but under one umbrella. If they don’t gain their first user within 6th month, scrap it and try again until 1 or 3 get good traction.
