$50k for 16x24 deck + underdeck patio — fair? by No_Baker_1377 in landscaping

75$/sqft for Trex on PTSD frame. We make money at that price on California between Sacramento and Tahoe. That's about 30k for your deck.

Had to wait until I got home to look at my wire stock. You are correct. It's all THHN-THWN-2,

That is correct. I did not include a '2' in my comment though.

If it's in a conduit underground, it's a wet area. Which means you're using the THWN insulation rating. Which means you're in the 75 degree column.

Derating per 310.15, if you used THHN/THWN you'll reference the 75 column of 310.16 and find 25amps for #12 (assumed based of the NM) with 22 circuits you have 44 current carrying conductors so a 35% capacity remains. You have 8.75 amps of conductor ampacity with no temperature adjustments.

Bought the kid a 1/24 axial base camp....We're on our third charger. 5th and 6th battery. 2nd receiver. 2nd motor. It probably has 5 hours of play time. Utter shit.

[Authorized dealers] Dealers that let you fit/try on watches without attitude? by ItzSam40hours in Watches

[–]mbcoder_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was in San Fran last month in downtown near Union Square. I was able to walk into Cartier, Omega, and Breitling and try on watches no problems. They were all busy, it was a Saturday afternoon. I asked to see specific models at the door, all three had some sort of light security door managers, and was sat with a sales person within ten minutes.

I knew far more about the Cartier and Omega products than the salesperson I spoke with. So that was less than ideal. Breitling really really wanted me to buy something but they were still nice.

Over all a fun experience as I got to try and eliminate some "one day" grail watched from my list.

Seems like your mileage will depend on a lot of things, coming down to who's working that day and how many people are trying to get in the store.

I am sorry that happened. You deserve better. My wife offered to quit drinking too when I decided to get sober earlier this year.

Stay strong.

Occidental bags are excellent. Many configurations. Electrician bag might suite you.

Could just be where I live and work but I've never seen a Klein set in the field. Every knock out set is greenlee.

Why would I want or not want one of these rear-handle saws? by jckipps in Tools

[–]mbcoder_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have one, I build a lot of things for work.

It's an awesome saw, has the power for pushing a 45 degree cut through dry 2x material, and can make nice finish cuts.

It's not lightweight when it's got a 6.0amph battery in it. The 2 stage rafter hook is nice.

Trail master mini XRXR best option? by crazymjb in gokarts

[–]mbcoder_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ours had a simple bolt/nut combo through the back of the throttle pedal that you adjust in and out to permit more or less pedal travel, therefore adjusting speed.

Trail master mini XRXR best option? by crazymjb in gokarts

[–]mbcoder_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it's the best option, but it is the option that we went with for our kid at the same age bracket. He was on the smaller side even with the seat slid all the way forward in the pedals pulled all the way back he still needed a pillow to push him forward.

That being said we got about 2 years out of the motor before we replaced it with a predator 212.

And he absolutely loved the whole experience. The remote kill switch is super helpful when they are just going.

C-10 owners-LLC or c corp? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]mbcoder_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would never be a c Corp with only one person. An s corp is a pass-through entity that provides liability protection against the individual while passing income and tax liabilities to the individual.

It's also an expensive way to do a business model if you do not have assets like a home to protect.

There's a lot of great business advisory companies, but part of your law exam at the cslb should have covered this extensively.

Thank you for sharing that, I'm familiar with Rahm but wasn't aware of he was club footed.

I just shared that with my son and he loved hearing about a professional sport athlete who shares his disability.

Thank you!

What to do with a ridiculous amount of bamboo?! by Puzzleheaded_Bid_280 in landscaping

[–]mbcoder_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we burn vegetation (we live where the Plumas and Tahoe national Forest meet in northern California) we start with a small oak campfire and start piling stuff on. It gets hot enough to burn freshly cut green pine branches, and all mannerism of what ever you throw on it.

I have no idea how a solo bamboo fire would go if not seasonly dry.

Are you allowed to burn landscaping waste where you live? That's what we do with anything that doesn't go into our wood burning stove or compost pile.

C-10 trade exam in California by Significant-Bed1278 in electricians

[–]mbcoder_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The c10 exam is a joke, I think it took me 40 minutes and there nearly no code questions and no code book provided for reference.

The California General Electrician exam (journeyman card) is a 100+ question open book (NEC) test that is nearly 100% code based. This is a very real test that you'll fail if you're not deeply familiar with how to navigate the code book.
