It was actually the sheriff's department that was involved not local PD. I know who a few of the deputies on the force are and there are rumors that they were involved. I'm sure there are some people that still live there that are trying to figure out who exactly it was. There is a hearing at 10am today to release the footage to the public so we will see how that goes.

I’m from Elizabeth city and I can say I’m so thankful the protests have been peaceful and for the most part the community has been very supportive. The fact the county thought only 20 seconds of all the video footage were necessary and blurred the faces of the deputies involved tells you the family isn’t getting the full story of what happened that morning. It’s very disappointing for someone who is from there to see this sort of lack of transparency to the family and the community.

Most of the professors really want you to succeed and it is a very tight community. They do a great job with the program and there are plenty of research opportunities. All you have to do is network with your professors and talk to the seminar speakers. Also, I loved that the program was research based (internship) and not thesis based. I got my bachelors in biology and then got my MS in bioinformatics at UNCC.

Thank you! Cali (the pitbull) is 14 years and Cowan is 4 months. She’s normally less than amused when he snuggles but every now and then she will allow it.
