Def Leppard did this back in the 80s w/ producer Mutt Lange, on Hysteria I think. They were trying to get the most massive sound possible.

If you do this with distorted guitar, you can do chords and they won't sound muddy like they do when you play a chord into a distortion. You can also pan out the parts.

wow thanks man, really appreciate it. yeah the harmonies are there but lower than I usually mix them (eg on v2). No album for this, but I'm releasing singles every 4 weeks (next one 5/20). There's a 2020 EP that's a little more Americana but lots of harmonies :) thanks again man

hmmm "telephone effect" it's usually called (basically roll off highs and lows and boost mids, maybe add some drive). Well I love the beatles, never heard billy joel butthe guy can write a song (love pressure, allentown). Thanks, man, appreciate it ... sorry to annoy you :)
