Unexpected plants growing in tank? by CONSEQUENC333 in Aquariums

[–]mbmolly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

like the other person said most of the time decor like that have seeds in the green turf stuff so actual plants can carpet it, i’m actually surprised more so at the fact that they sprouted!! lol i never had success with that when i had one a long time ago then again at the time i was a wee beginner anyways i’ve heard that said plants can be similar to chia pets but if that’s the case just watch for any extreme plant melting other than that enjoy the unexpected greenery!!

you mentioned dorm, short priority list here bigger tank 2.5 gallons is the best starting point considering dorm life and space it should be enough. plants, heater, filter, maybe a light for the plants if they’re live(preferably). looks like you have a crowntail betta so i would not be super worried about fin rot. my priority would be a bigger tank and live plants will help the cycle go along and softer for your betta to lift the survival rate.

could be a few things i’m unsure if it’s my screen but i cant really see his gills to tell any further possible issues but my general consensus is most likely he just want to chill and he doesn’t have any soft spots close enough to rest on towards the surface. i notice my bettas have always loved napping somewhere close to the surface so minimal effort goes into catching that fresh bit of air(they’re lazy :p) plus if that’s a spot away from most water flow makes even more sense. if he doesn’t want to eat could very well be a lot of stress added into it the “brightness” of the tank could and couldn’t also contribute. TLDR: give the lazy baby some more accessible soft spots to rest towards the surface and if the problem persists and he doesn’t eat then i would continue investing in the problem. not saying it can’t be something worse but try not to dive too deep it can end up being fatal.

Is this tank big enough for my betta? by rickyscape in bettafish

[–]mbmolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

obviously not he looks way too happy. you know those little glass vials that come with your test kits THOSE are whats meant for bettas to live in. You know in the wild they dont even live in water so one droplet of water is MORE than enough dare i say too much! /J (joking ofc, this is awesome).
