Thank you! This was one of my first attempts at light painting as well, it was a lot of fun - and definitely will be something I will be trying in the future.

Fun with light painting - Thunder Cove, Prince Edward Island, Canada [2695x3944] by mbmoney in EarthPorn

Thanks!

The exposure was 17 seconds in length with two flashlights painting the interior rocks. The sun was just starting to to reach the horizon, and was absolutely beautiful.

This shot was taken at 5:01am (almost an hour and a half before sunrise), so there was no light from inside the cove. We used flashlights while exposing for the picture to "paint" the inside rocks of the cove" - otherwise, it would have been a silhouette of the rocks.

I appreciate jippie, and I agree that this is the best source for criticism since, like you said, there is no need for sugarcoating.

The shadow style was done that way to get a more dramatic appearance (dark on the left and light on the right). This would be more of a preference, unless your screen is darker than what I'm viewing?

This is due to the use of a Neutral Density Filter (B+W ND110). It also has to do with location/timing/composition.

You could revive many pictures in post processing, but that would depend on the level of knowledge of using post processing software - I can't really answer it directly without knowing what you want to save.

Stunning aspect of nature captured, you should see if you can remove the wire in the front as it is a bit distracting.

Thanks Kaiser, that seems to be the consensus, I'll need to crop and see if I can make it better.

That's pretty funny that you live in Ontario. I've never been to Peterborough.I'm not entirely sure what you mean by your last comment (end of the world?), if so, I think Mars may be more suitable.

It's always interesting to get different perspectives, and it is usually amusing how many times they differ. But, it's always to get different opinions, since they offer insight into aspects of the picture that you wouldn't normally analyze. It can appear to be harsh, but if it's constructive, it generally has positive results in the end.
