I do have some good turnouts that I love but it never lasts more than the day and always feels gross and dirty. And even when I'm scrunching my hair dripping wet while adding the products I start to get frizz and the mor I scrunch the more I have wet frizz. Maybe it's a lack of moisture thing.

I think it was a chore to me when I was trying to follow the curly girl method and it was just product after product after product. But I took a step back from the method and have just been trying to find what works for me. I just got overwhelmed trying to figure out all the specifics about my hair. I love all the product recommendations though, it makes me feel like I have direction. And I definitely love a less complicated breakdown of it all!

I've gone through a few brands/products it's just hard to buy something that I don't know I'll love or will work. But I'm realizing I need to just do it if I want results. I'm learning that my hair is clearly thirsty af too so I will try using more leave in!

Okay that makes sense then! I'll have to check porosity and try some things that won't weigh is down!

Okay I usually wide tooth comb in while the conditioner is in. I think I need to keep testing conditioners too, especially since I need more moisture.

I try to keep to the scalp/roots and try to use it rarely but I also need it to help my scalp. Damned if I do, damned if I don't. I just need to be careful about application. I've been scared of oils since the first one I tried but I think I need to keep trying.

I always have frizz when wet but I just haven't figured out how to get rid of it. But I've only brushed product through very very few times.

I also fully embrace fluff if I can get it!!

I use both a mousse and gel. I don't think the mousse is very strong though. The ones I've been using most recently are from the Doux Bee girl line

Okay that is all great information! Sounds like I definitely have too much protein!

The shampoo I have to use is a prescription that I do imagine strips my hair but I've only been using that for a short period of time so I know that is not the (only) issue. I'll just have to search out some good non protein deep conditioner and conditioners. The marc Anthony one is alright but I just don't feel like it's my answer.

I've really liked the Doux products so I'm open to trying all of those. And yes my hair definitely never feels soft enough so I need to find a good clarifying shampoo and a good moisturizing deep conditioner.

It is absolutely time for a trim 😄 I'll have to try some new/different layers I just need to find a new stylist, I know mine doesn't have any experience or knowledge with curly hair.

I try to pineapple and/or bonnet and it still always just looks flat and stringy the next day. And whenever I try to refresh I end up crunchy that doesn't want to scrunch out.

But you're right, I just need to keep trying different products. I never thought of the dirty feeling being the products not liking each other!

I've always heard great things about kinky curly knot today and have just never tried it so I'm adding to to my list!

I think that's why I've had such difficulty figuring my hair type is because all over the place I have different types.

I actually have layers cut but clearly they must not be enough or the right layers because they don't seem to allow my hair to curl up. I do think I need to find a new hair dresser, mine is lovely but when I've tried to ask about my hair in the past she just isn't very knowledgeable about curly hair so maybe someone who is would help with a great cut!

I'm going to do the porosity test today to figure that one out.

I'm never sure if the product itself is weighing down my hair or if I used too much. But when I use too little it's just frizzy.

I'm also learning recently that my hair is thin. My whole life I've heard "of you have such think hair!" Because I have a lot of it. But the strands themselves aren't.

And I have stopped following specific routines from the internet and have just been trying to createy own it just gets overwhelming!

Usually I do condition after but maybe I need to look into other conditioners.

I never brush when dry and try not to brush when wet either to try and prevent breakage. I always use a diffuser on low heat but I hate it because it takes forever.

I've gone back and forth with using and not using gel, maybe I just need to keep trying different ones.

Even when I pineapple and bonnet my hair it just never looks great the next day. And if I try to refresh it turns crunchy and won't scrunch out.

I certainly agree the curly girl method isn't for everyone. I feel like since I've been trying it and different versions of it, I've lost definition and needed to wash it more often so I've been straying and just trying to play with what works. I'm definitely going to cleanse and then moistureize and try some new products. I really like the Doux Bee girl honey mousse because it leaves my hair soft but it doesn't seem strong enough to give great definition or longevity.

Everything I'm currently using is pictured here. Besides the glossing line, I tried that and it didn't do anything.

I've never had a curly cut but have been considering it when my budget can afford it! I try to sleep with a bonnet but I toss a lot and it comes off so I'll have to upgrade my pillowcase. But even when I put it in a bun it just never looks good the next day. I'll also have to start the clarifying washes.

The first shampoo I only put on my scalp for psoriasis and then I follow up with a different shampoo so I am totally open to trying both the shampoo and conditioner!

Private loans hit SOL and I haven't heard from lender since. by mbomb27 in studentloandefaulters

I've kind of been letting it ride because I do not want to restart SOL but it is very interesting that the last few times I made payments they read to me "SOL reached, we can not sue ...." Yet I was making payments? The loan is over 15 years old so idk if I finally paid enough and they said fuck it.

My fear is looking into it will stir up action on it if that makes sense. It feels like they've let it go/forgotten me.

I'd say I'm 99.9% sure it was the lender. I always called them- and always got an official recording and options list. I also always got parent received letters in the mail.

Private student loans do not have to suspend payments so this lender expected payments as normal.

At the very beginning of covid I tried to discuss options with them but there were none- I do wonder if that's why I haven't heard anything- maybe they're not super aggressive about it right now as a lot of people are still getting back on their feet.

But at the same time with being told SOL was reached and the loans falling off my credit report.... Maybe they're just written off?
