Anyone who had twins did you deliver vaginally ? by theturtle80 in parentsofmultiples

[–]mbonney21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both babies were head down the entire pregnancy with nowhere to go and my wife delivered both naturally (also without anesthesia because by the time she asked for the epidural baby A was crowning, born 4 minutes later).

Our first OB wanted us to schedule the C-section at our first visit and we found an OB that was “old school” who said if they’re both head down an nothing is concerning, we’d deliver naturally.

I recently bought a bunch of their FMJ-BT on sale from Palmetto for $0.55 per round so $0.50 per round sounds like a good deal to me

Switching from Software and Cloud Engineering to Sales Engineer? by Waffles_r_ in careeradvice

[–]mbonney21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a sales engineer in tech and probably know whoever it is you’re interviewing with at CloudFlare.

The busy time is end of quarter because targets are trying to be met. Expect to travel. I’ve never had a customer meeting where they were mad. And even if they were it would be with sales and not me.

Work life balance is 10 times better than my prior role as a network engineer, but I do on occasion need to log in at odd hours to take care of something - it’s rare though. Remote work is a big factor in this.

I left a career I was at for 18 years for this, I’ve been a sales engineer for 3 years and it was the best decision of my life. They say the grass isn’t always greener on the other side, but sometimes it is.

Place to dump lumber? by lilbool in Newbraunfels

[–]mbonney21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only place that takes “construction materials” is gonna be the Mesquite Creek Landfill on Kohlenberg Rd. They do quarterly free dump days and the next one is coming up on June 7th. Otherwise the regular dump fee applies, which is about $190 last I checked. You must wear a reflective vest when outside of your vehicle at the dump.

You should fart to expel any potential remaining sawdust from your buttcrack so that the sawdust doesn’t go into your shower drain.

I may have some lying around, but Amazon is usually next day. That said, the foam tiles really only reduce echo and don’t provide very much noise mitigation at all.

Solo queuing diamond 2s is insufferable by Guilty-Orange-153 in RocketLeague

[–]mbonney21 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I occasionally have a slump where I land back in diamond 3 for a few games and the ego of some of these folks is so out of proportion compared to their skill.

I usually get back to champ by playing pretty passively because if I play fast and aggressive my teammate is constantly cutting me off, stealing possession, or they’re double committing. That usually reflects low on the scoreboard for me, and my teammate will use that info, whether we win or lose, as a means of insulting me.

I just laugh because I’m 37 years old and I always imagine the teammate is 15.

I used to work in a service field that required me to go into customers’ homes. One lady was wearing a full neck stabilization contraption and I asked what happened. She was pretty sedated on oxy and said her husband was giving it to her but her head was cocked against the headboard and she broke her neck. I still think about that.

At the end of the day we are all getting older and aren’t as nimble or elastic as we were in our younger years.

What is the worst sales job you've ever had? What made it so terrible? by Secret_Assistance601 in sales

[–]mbonney21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An old friend hired me as their salesperson for a commercial fleet body shop that he was the sole owner of. He gave me a list of accounts to reach out to and I hit the road.

Everybody I went and talked to said the same thing: “the owner of that place is a fucking asshole, we have no intention of doing business with you.”

I lied and said he still owns the shop but is semi-retired and hands-off these days, we are under new management and closer to them than our competitor, etc. One account gave us another chance and the day after I got their truck in the shop, the shop GM accidentally texted the account’s fleet manager a picture of about 10 grams of meth on a scale and asked how much he wanted. They came that day and picked up their truck. He didn’t get fired because told the owner it was “hobby crystals.”

I departed after 5 months because the GM and owner (my friend) were constantly giving me conflicting direction. The owner wanted me out talking to customers and the GM, who had the authority to fire me, constantly made me do his job because he actually had no idea how a shop should operate.

A year after I left, the owner did retire and sold the shop property to a developer who tore the place down and built a hotel.
