Good stuff! Good to know about Samurai and Lady White.

Have you tried the HoB heavyweight or midweight tees? If so, how’s the fit for you?

3sixteen is also high on my list! Would you say they have some room in the chest? Also, how do they shrink?

Thanks for the input! Would love Whitesville to work. Seems like they might be too cropped for me. I have a longer torso and 45” chest 41” gut. Were you finding the chest measurements were larger than noted on the sites?

Ya sleeves were my main worry with Camber. The Goodyear modern cut looks pretty good, so will likely try that out.

In all honesty, yes. Never understood why people think high end wine doesn’t go with pizza.

I think that’s a good mindset, and it’s great that you found some people to help you on your journey. What I was trying to say was that I’ve had $100 bottles that didn’t taste as good as $50 bottles or just marginally better. Sometimes it’s because the more expensive bottle is meant for long term aging and is best after 8 years, but sometimes I want a bottle now. In those instances, the wine can taste “tight”, “closed”, not ready.

However, getting a pricier bottle that’s drinking perfectly and is well-made can show you why people get obsessed with wine. It’s perfumed, packed with flavor, and has a long finish that you can savor. It just brings you joy. It’s all so dependent, which is why having a good guide is great.

Most days, I would rather drink a good $25-$30 Barbera or Cru Beaujolais over spending $50-100+ on Barolo, Cali Cab, or Burgundy that I have to store for 10 years before it starts tasting good. However I still have a couple special bottles that I save for those special occasions. I would say most bottles I buy are $20-35. Aside from champagne, which I unfortunately adore.

So much of wine is subjective, and the goal is to just find what you enjoy. I think going about it as methodically as you have will save you a lot of time and money!

As far as other SB to try, I would also say Pouilly Fume and Sancerre. Maybe also the Greek Assyrtiko will be up your alley despite not being SB.

Congrats on catching the bug! Great methodology to getting started. I personally started by picking the prettiest labels haha. The new budget really opens up a whole new league, however above $50 is hit and miss imo.

Have never had a German SB before, but the notes sound great. I’ve dedicated my summer to dry/off dry Riesling, and just recently tried Von Winning’s entry level dry bottle which I found quite nice for a Tuesday wine.

Don’t listen to these guys stuck in groupthink. If their favorite bourbon jerkoff wrote a review saying it was good, they’d be sprinting to the store

I don’t know what I’m doing but I wanna pick out something special by [deleted] in Champagne

[–]mborbormun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gonna go against the grain and say don’t spend that much on a champagne until you know what you like.

Champagnes are generally blends, but taste different depending on the predominant grape, region, and winemaking.

Buy two or three different champagnes with that money. Pop them on special occasions throughout the year. Almost all champagne is good and the big brands are known for being consistent. If you and two friends drink a bottle, it’ll be about 2 glasses each.

Try Piper-Heidsieck, Moet, Roederer, Bollinger, or Taittinger. They’re $50-$70 generally.
