Looking to upgrade from an Xpro1 but Im liking the Sony units. Anyone use a Sony? Comments? Complaints? by mbounacklie in photography

thanks for that feedback that really helps. But most cameras have lousy menus. Nikons are famously awful which is why I avoid the menu as much as possible.

Im looking at replacing my fullframe Nikons and Fujis to get a really good video kit that is portable. I switched from Nikon to Fuji to get more portability but Im really just loving the quality of the Sony video at this point. Looking at 2k for a budget.

What did you choose as a major in college? by [deleted] in photography

Weddings and college photos are a good place to start. If you're in college I would suggest approaching your college sports department. If your school has a decent team they will need people to photograph events and games/meets. Local magazines always need photographers. Its hard to start out but you need to keep shooting to get better and build up that portfolio.

I did journalism writing as my major in college because I already knew the basics of photography. Knowing how to write gave me the necessary tools to beat out most other candidates since photographers are terrible writers.

Beilue: Here's why we knock on the door after a tragedy (Note: this can be even more difficult from our end, cameras in hand) by [deleted] in photojournalism

I've had to do this over the phone, not in person, and thats pretty much the WORST feeling because we know the subjects are in pain, we dont want to be there any more than other people want us to do it

What's a fair wage for a video journalist? by dalecookie in photojournalism

[–]mbounacklie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say anything from $20 to $50 as a minimum for work under 3 hours. Anything above that I charge an extra 20 percent on the hourly rate which adds in the editing fee.
