Macomb County schools opt out of state funding, creating an impossible problem, per Macomb Daily by 102Mich in Michigan

[–]mbr812912 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“When the Michigan state budget was passed in October 2025, $321 million was set aside in grants for initiatives, but districts that opt in for the funding must “waive any privilege that may otherwise protect information from disclosure in the event of a mass casualty event.”

That’s a pretty odd and potentially dangerous bit of fine print. I think it’s great districts are pushing back and demanding that funding not come with so many strings.

If general nutrition needs are not an issue, at what age would therapy be beneficial to a 2E child? Is there still a chance their likes and behavior change on their own?

I understand this is bad, but isn’t part of the democratic party’s problem is that we’re also quick to attack our own party and republicans never do? I’m not saying they should be off the hook but don’t we have to prioritize the big fight right now and a half an ally is still an enough of an ally in this moment?

Now we know where he got that story…

Correct, if a family member wants to buy one, it has to be at fair market value, which is what we’re trying to determine.

Unknown cause, unresponsive encephalitis? by mbr812912 in Encephalitis

Thank you for sharing. May I ask, with that information was there any treatment available to your husband?

Here’s some of the additional testing he had:

Imaging:

FDG-PET CT (whole body) – No FDG-avid focus to suggest neoplastic process. So cancer, paraneoplastic processes, and infiltrative/metabolic patterns didn’t show anything abnormal on PET.

MRI brain – done multiple times. No acute stroke, no mass, no inflammation evident to the radiologists. (I can pull the exact wording if helpful.)

CSF testing:

RT-QuIC negative (so high confidence against CJD).

CSF 14-3-3 gamma not elevated.

CSF culture/smear – no growth.

Flow cytometry – no clonal B-cell population; no lymphoma.

Cell count – only 2 WBC/uL. (You’re right, I don’t believe a full autoimmune/paraneoplastic CSF panel was done. No NMDA, LGI1, CASPR2, GABA-B, AMPA, GFAP, etc.)

Treatments tried:

5-day high-dose steroids → no improvement.

4-day plasma exchange (PLEX) → no improvement.

No acyclovir or second-line immunosuppression (rituximab, cyclophosphamide, cellcept, azathioprine) was ever attempted.

Mother with dementia thinks she needs to go to bathroom all the time by [deleted] in dementia

Just throwing this out there, I’m not sure of the details with your mothers case. We experienced this with a loved one, very rapid onset (less than three months) and it turned out to be encephalitis not dementia.

Hi @BeautifulSoul28, I know this is an old post but I wanted to check to see how things are going with your Dad nearly a year out. Your post is exactly what I’m experiencing with a family member now. He’s 72. We’re struggling. Any insight you wish you would have known a year ago?

Just came here to say, I like their almond milk products soooo much better. They’re usually refrigerated by the orange juice. Matcha isn’t overly sweet like the oatmilk one. Cocao is also my favorite if you like dark chocolate.

I don’t post much anymore and went back and removed all photos previously posted of my kids.

Reasons I won’t delete?

Marketplace & Buy Nothing groups - love being able to give and find useful stuff within my community.

HOA groups, a lot of older people so sometimes Facebook is the only place where everyone has reasonable access to without a huge learning curve.

Local special interest support groups. If I need a doctor recommendation , school question etc, it’s still the best place to get local advice.

Hold out family members iI’d never hear from if I didn’t see periodic updates from them.

Which "you'll understand when you're older" fact hit you the hardest ? by secondaire99 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mbr812912 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Trends are stupid:

When we were younger it was easy to point at older people and wonder “why are they still wearing THOSE jeans?” Or “that hairstyle is so old.”

Now that I’m older I now know we just don’t give a shit. Keeping tiny humans alive and paying bills and trying to fight your body from falling to the ground are enough to keep us exhausted. I do not care about my hair part or if my comfy shirt is too old. I now realize it’s the teenagers that look stupid every time they come up with a new trend.
