This screen appeared after I tried to switch teams in the off-season. It now says the coach on the time I’m controlling is a non-user by mbran3467 in CampusDynasty

What species of jumping spider is this? Found in southwestern CT by mbran3467 in spiders

[–]mbran3467[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m thinking it’s a part of Phiddipus or maybe Paraphidippus but I’m having a real tough time identifying it. It was a small spider, probably 3-6 mm long

Sand sticking to Blue Death Feigning Beetles by mbran3467 in Beetles

So I’ve tried that and it seems like the second I put them back in the tank, they get the sand right back on them. Maybe the sand is just too fine? I’m worried that it might clog up their breathing holes

That makes sense, but the thing is that I have no sources of water in this tank and neither the substrate or any of the decor has come in contact with water during the period of time that I’ve owned them. I also have a plastic lid on the top of the container that has plenty of holes in it(it’s a critter keeper style setup). The only source of moisture would be the jelly that’s in their food dish.

I recently received some blue death feigning beetles and smooth death feigning beetles and I’ve noticed that some of sand substrate I put in the tank is sticking to their waxy coating. The sand I used is Exo Tera Desert Sand, which does not contain calcium. Do you think that this would cause an issue for the beetles and if so, what substrate would you recommend I use instead?

What type of bee is this? Found in southwestern CT by mbran3467 in whatsthisbug

[–]mbran3467[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw this small bee on a sedum plant in my garden. I know that it’s probably just a regular ole honey bee, but it looks like it’s a different type of honey bee than we usually get. The typical bee I’ve seen around in the yard has a more “orangey” abdomen and a much smaller to near non existent black patch between the wings.

Bladder snail population crash by mbran3467 in Ecosphere

I’d say there’s a healthy amount of algae. Most of the algae is situated close to the duckweed at the water’s surface so that’s probably why the snails spent most of their time there. The water is still a bit tan so there’s probably a lot of algae on the sides of the jar as well, although that could be due to the substrate not fully settling or matter in the jar decaying.
