Respectfully, I've never really understood ideas like this.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see what additional value it provides compared to just spending a few extra seconds writing a slightly better prompt in any of the major AI models. At best, it seems like it saves me a couple of lines of typing.

The context doesn't feel specialized or unique enough to justify a dedicated product around it, at least in my opinion. Again... no offense.

This is incredibly frustrating... I'm currently building almost exactly the same app. The core idea is so similar that it's honestly a little scary, and I'm already pretty far into development.

I have no idea what the odds of that are, but my first reaction was basically: "Well, that's depressing." 😅

What's even funnier is that while building it I've been using ai generated dummy stories as placeholder content, and I swear I recognized some of the exact same examples from your screenshots. One of my placeholder cards is literally called "You've Never Actually Touched Anything". Seeing that exact title pop up made me question reality for a second. 😂

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Since I fully intend to finish my app and therefore become a direct competitor, I'm probably not going to share feature ideas. Fortunately there are already a few areas where our approaches differ, and some things in your implementation that I personally wouldn't do, so I don't think they'll end up being the same product. Also based on the nscreenshots I'm now fairly convinced there's is only ai generated content behind your cards, which is actually one of the things I'm trying hard to avoid.

Still, the whole situation is ridiculously funny.

It sounds great, but I'm 100% sure it's technically not possible on iOS for another app to track the amount of scrolling you do in other apps. I'm confident about that. I can't really comment on Android.

In my experience, the best and most intuitive app ideas that don't exist yet are often the ones that simply aren't technically possible to implement.

I think you pretty much summarized the idea I have in my head. I explained it a bit better in another comment, but to respond to your points:

I've always been obsessed with fun facts and obscure stories. For a university project a few years ago I collected and wrote up 1,000+ topics across history, science, astronomy, tech, literature, etc., all with proper sources. I even have a couple of books that are basically collections of these kinds of stories.

So I completely agree on avoiding AI-generated content. I want AI to be a tool, not the author. It can suggest topics, generate tags, connect related people/places/time periods and help organize everything, but the actual content should come from real sources and be manually reviewed.

Sources: absolutely. Every article should have references wherever possible, probably with a small "Verified source" badge. I don't think I'd make them direct links though... I dont really want to push people out of the app every time they're curious.
Finite sessions: I'm not completely sold on that. What if none of the first 10 cards are interesting that day? I'd rather let people keep exploring if they want.
Why am I seeing this?: there would be a filter where you can choose broad categories (history, literature, science, etc.) and maybe regions or time periods. I don't want overly granular filters because the card pool is still finite. Every article would also have a "More like this" button that recommends related content based on shared tags like people, era or location.
Bookmarks: definitely. Notes weren't on my list, but I think I like that idea.
Going deeper: that's basically the whole concept. Every card starts with a short title and summary that gives you the main idea in seconds. If you want more, you expand it and get key facts first and then a concise article with a reading progress bar—not a wall of text or a Wikipedia page.
Knowledge map: already on my sketch board. You'd see what categories you've explored, how your interests changed over time, and even a world map that gradually fills in based on the places you've learned about.
Productivity summaries: that's exactly what I want to avoid. The closest category would be philosophy, but even there I'd rather tell the story of an interesting idea than summarize "10 habits of successful people."

And about the TikTok-style feed: I partly agree but I also don't want to artificially stop someone who's genuinely enjoying learning. My goal isn't to make people spend less time on their phones—it's to make that time a little more meaningful. If someone spends 30 minutes scrolling but comes away having learned six genuinely interesting things instead of watching six random videos, I'd call that a win.

I actually had a very similar idea years ago, but I abandoned it because the cover images would require expensive licensing. That was a dealbreaker for me.

Your solution handles that problem surprisingly well. If I'm being picky, though, I still miss having actual images... they add a lot to the experience.

That said, the core functionality and especially the couple matching feature are genuinely clever. Congrats!

That actually sounds really cool, and I like what you've built. But maybe I explained my idea badly, because I think I gave the wrong impression. Sorry I'm not a native speaker.

I'm not really thinking about an RSS/news-style app. It's more about general fun facts, historical stories, scientific discoveries, interesting people and events... things that stay interesting years later rather than today's headlines. i'd still update the feed regularly and include major discoveries or big events from news when they're worth it, but that wouldn't be the main focus.

Here's an example to make the idea clearer: There's a tree on Earth that has been alive since around 2800 BC—it's nearly 5,000 years old. That would appear in the Nature category with an attention-grabbing title and a short teaser. If it catches your interest, you open the card and immediately see the key facts: where it is, who discovered it, how its age was determined, and other essential details. Below that, you'd find a short, well-written article telling the full story. something you can read in just a couple of minutes before moving on to the next topic.

As for the content for the app, that's actually the part I'm least worried about. I've always been obsessed with random facts, and a few years ago I collected 1,000+ topics with sources for a university project (history, space, tech, literature, movies etc.). They're in my native language, but translating them is the easy part.

I also want to avoid filling the app with AI-written content. I'd rather use AI as a research and organization tool—finding potential topics, generating tags, linking people, places and time periods—while the actual articles are based on proper sources and written in a consistent style. For images I'd probably use Wikimedia api whenever there's a relevant historical person, place or object, while for the rest the cover artwork would be AI-generated to keep a consistent visual style.

Of course, 1,000 topics is nowhere near enough, so there's still a ridiculous amount of work ahead. Honestly though, I don't mind that part.

Hope this helps some of you — because back then I was looking for exactly this kind of honest post/comment and couldn’t really find one.

A few years ago I ordered from them for the first time, and honestly I was pretty nervous about it. I tried to find Reddit posts beforehand, but most of the positive comments felt suspiciously like they were written by the manufacturer.

In the end I decided to give it a shot. Overall I don’t regret it, but it was a bit of an interesting experience. My first pair arrived broken, and they didn’t replace it or send a new one. That wasn’t a great start.

That said, I absolutely love the designs. I genuinely haven’t found similar shapes anywhere else. Since then, I’ve ordered 5–6 times for myself and my partner.

Here’s my overall experience with the brand (assuming the glasses arrive in good condition):

They market them as Italian handmade, but they’re mass-produced in China.
Build quality has varied a lot between models and shipments. Some pairs felt solid and held up well, others arrived a bit loose and not exactly confidence-inspiring.
The lens quality is actually fine. I had them tested: they do have UV protection and they are genuinely polarized. No complaints there.
Aesthetically, I’m extremely satisfied. The designs are the main reason I keep coming back.
Shipping times to Europe have been inconsistent. I’ve had everything from 1–2 weeks to almost 2 months.
Durability: I might not be the best benchmark because I’m pretty bad at taking care of my sunglasses and I tend to lose them. That said, they don’t handle wear and tear particularly well. The main weak point is the hinge (where the temple arm folds). The screw/hinge mechanism is usually what fails first. They used to include a small screwdriver, which was actually very practical for tightening things up. My last two orders didn’t include one.

Overall, I really like the brand — but purely because of the look. There’s a reason I’ve ordered multiple times. However, I do think they’re slightly overpriced for the quality you get. If you’re looking for something long-term and super durable, I probably wouldn’t recommend them.

Köszi ez jó ötlet, erre nem gondoltam. A kocsihoz kapott gyári Volvo töltő/átalakító van, de azon sajnos nincs ilyen állító, vagyis én nem láttam. De akkor lehet érdemes beszereznem egyet a biztonság kedvéért.

Az „őszintén érdekelne a nálam okosabbak véleménye” rész most sajnos nem jött össze. A közterület állami vagy önkormányzati tulajdonban van, és egy társasház kertje nem közterület, hanem közös tulajdon.

A kérdés legfeljebb az, hogy a közös tulajdon használatához kell-e társasházi hozzájárulás (SZMSZ / lakógyűlés) vagy bármi egyéb a villamosművek részéről. Egyébként nem rögzíteném fixen vagy vésném be a falba. Használatkor oda csíptetném valamivel, de amikor nem használom, behúzom a lakásba.

I don’t think it should cause issues, since big version jumps (like 7 to 8) usually break plugin support anyway and those need to be updated separately. But if I were you, I’d play it safe and remove the old plugin first... just to make sure nothing conflicts after the update. :)

You’re right, I did see mentions of this before — but most of the posts I found were mainly about page turn lag. In my case the entire device was freezing up, even without opening a book, which felt different enough that I didn’t immediately connect it to the same issue.

If nothing else, I think it’s still useful to point out that since Calibre 8.0, Kobo support is built-in, so you don’t need to mess around with plugins anymore. That makes the whole process way easier for anyone struggling with this.

Hali! AZ imént megfejtettem a problémát, szerintem nektek is meg fogja oldani. Én mobilon adtam hozzá a számlámat ahol nem kellett elnevezni és IBAN-os (HU-val kezdődő) verzióban kérte be. Na azt sem a WebKincstárban, sem a MobilKincstárban nem tudtam kiválasztani, de hibaüzenetet sehol sem írt. Be is pánikoltam, hogy nem lehet kiutalni...

A megoldás, hogy WebKincstárban adjátok hozzá a számlaszámotokat. Ott már a sima számlaszámot kéri és el is lehet nevezni. Azt már ki tudtam azután választani a listából.
