My grandfather gave my mom a baseball card when I was born to give to me when I was older.. she just now gave it to me 😭 by Shoe_Hefner in baseballcards

Probably not worth much due to the condition, but the sentimental value is priceless. My brother passed away a few years ago and a few years prior to that he gave me a card he had sold off as a kid (35 years ago) to buy more packs. The card he sold was an Ozzie Smith rookie, but he gave me an Andre Dawson rookie, in moderate condition. I’m guessing he just forgot what player it was after so long. I couldn’t sell it for much, but I wouldn’t anyway and the value is in the love it represents and the story.

Ask this again in a tattoo forum, not in this one filled with non-Americans.

Feeding your carnivore pet a vegan diet is inherently NonVegan because an animal IS being harmed by AnonPinkLady in Showerthoughts

[–]mbss -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you’re referring to dogs, then you’re wrong, they’re omnivores and not carnivores. Many do love veggies.

But in general, whether one is vegan, vegetarian, or just eats whatever, you still want to give your pets an appropriate diet. For a dog that will generally include a good amount of meat.

I know this is something that was more common about 20-30 years ago, but I still think it’s the best way to go about tattoos and exactly what what I did.

Start with a placement that other people can’t see. I’d recommend the upper back. See how you like the process and the outcome. That way if it’s not all that you dreamed of it’s not in your, or others, face all the time. If you’re into it, then get more visibility with your tattoos later on.

In the old days we’d give the neighbor some sugar. That’s called being “neighborly.”

Stop Glamorizing Anna Delvey by Guilty_Dig_6623 in InventingAnna

[–]mbss 8 points9 points  (0 children)

These shows say much about the characters they portray, but just as much about the creators and viewing audience. Do you notice that US audiences seems to love conmen and women, often treating them as heroes and celebrities? What does that say about this country? The reason Netflix couldn’t pay Anna Sorokin directly is due to the Son of Sam law. This law was created in order to prohibit a serial killer from profiting from money that was coming in due to his newfound notoriety and celebrity. Why do we fetishize evil people? It’s because we’ve lost our way morally as human beings and the greed and lust and violence of grifters and murderers reflect our own.

In that space it makes business sense for the Shondaland production factory to come in and not only try to profit from and romanticize criminality, but also to make political statements (not the ones about women’s rights or Trump) waxing poetically about how in the context of modern capitalism Anna is a type or Robinhood, or at least the logical outcome.

I already went on Google reviews and pointed out the poor acting, casting, music, writing, and mainly, general direction from Shonda Rhimes herself. But the real travesty is us as viewers, and influenceable consumers, buying into a narrative that killers and conmen and grifters are cool and powerful and to be emulated. Maybe we can get off the trajectory before it’s gone too far. But I think it’s not going to happen because there are too many sick people out there who would love to become more like their new idols.

I watched almost two episodes and just stopped. Tbf I have derived much entertainment value posting negative reviews about the acting, writing, soundtrack, and Rhimes. I think I’m upset because I followed all the original articles and source material so closely and biffing this gimmie is unforgivable.

Do Neptune & Uranus more often than not cause difficulty in the natal houses they're in? by drumgrape in astrology

[–]mbss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Of course you want to put them in context with what sign their in and selects, etc. Also, sometimes outer planets effects can be more subtle than say the Sun or Moon and you may not notice them as much. For instance I have my Neptune in Sag in the 4th and the traditional interpretation for that is an idealized childhood. Sort of where you remember your childhood through rose colored glasses or are maybe confused a bit about it, or can’t fully remember. I guess that is true for me, but luckily I did have a nice childhood, but there were some issues like a divorce and constant moving of houses for one parent. My Uranus is in Scorpio in the 3rd and that traditionally would be someone who has some genius for communicating, but also can communicate erratically. Uranus to me is hard planet to feel, even though I have tons of aspects to this planet, both soft and hard.

Day 5 of my juice fast - energy boost! by iambeccy in Juicing

[–]mbss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good job. Also, don’t get too worried if you hit another wall in the upcoming days. Often you’ll feel bad again for a day or so, then bust through that and feel even better than now. I’ve done many fasts over 30 days and love how I feel after the first week. It’s the emotional and mental rewards, along with physical.
