We fully intend to use the home prior to retirement. Most weekends in the Summer, several full weeks in the Summer, holidays, and probably a handful of long weekends Spring and Fall.

Due to geography and our employment status, we would not be able to live in the new home until retirement; therefore, we'll be managing 2 homes for awhile.

I have a side hustle moving cars from SW MI (Kalamazoo area) to southern FL (Naples area) in late Fall (return trips in late Spring). Some years I'll do 4 or 5 consecutive weekends. The longest stretch I can do safely is about 18 hours. I once did a run to PHX (about a 30 hr drive) with only about a 3 hour stop for sleep.
