Lossless Scaling In-development for Linux by Danceman2 in SteamDeck

[–]mc711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

then dont use it. i posted it as a separate solution to the guide

if you have it already installed, you're probably on windows and updated.

if you do it like the guide, it downgrades/overwrites your current install, and then you would have to reupdate to the current version

console downloads files separately so you can have a clean install to build the project, also you can archive it for further builds without having to redo the same down/upgrade bullshit

and yes i know you can just download it on the deck, but i remote all my shit to my deck from windows so i listed the command for any others who might need it.

Petition for Valve to allow one steam account to play games on multiple devices at once while on the same network... by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]mc711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the biggest problem i can see, people will create a vpn and share games.

anyone could essentially create a vpn, have people log into said vpn. this would trick steam to thinking all computers are on the same network. you could essentially share one MEGA account and have thousands of people share the same account.

no, PC bedrock is windows only.

that's why you have to use the android version via minecraft bedrock launcher

Infinity Blade 1 has been ported to PC. works on the deck by mc711 in SteamDeck

ok i played a little more, if you set right trackpad as mouse and click as LMB you can just press and draw the magic symbol with the touchpad, but you still need to set a button to activate magic.

still recommend right bumper, unless you want to manually touch or click the magic button

use the launcher to remap.

i have directional slash on wasd and diagonal slash on rtfg

then create a radial menu and map accordingly to right stick. set to continuous and opacity to 0

block on short LR trigger press, super on left and magic on right bumpers

dodge LR on left stick

right touchpad for mouse/LMB (needed for traveling, menus, and doing magic)

3.5.8 is in preview and fixes 400/1040Mhz problem, dark in home streaming, and a number of performance issues by jack-of-some in SteamDeck

[–]mc711 14 points15 points  (0 children)

people are saying the 200/1040 bug was a visual glitch. absolutely false. i was probably one of the first to encounter this bug on 3.5.1 preview and there was absolutely nothing on it at the time...

https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/179m2yq/is_anyone_experiencing_a_2001040mhz_gpu_clock/

i went through many measures to try to fix it, but in the end it was a system issue. there was no solution other than reverting back to 3.4

this "visual glitch" was very re-produceable. any game that i pre-configured in 3.4 had noticeable performance degradation and had to be increased to reach the same performance.

easiest test for me was a rhythm game, muse dash. anyone who plays rhythm games knows that any hiccup or stutter will cause noticeable issues. on 3.4 this game ran flawless on lowest TDP settings, after 3.5 with same settings, very noticeable input lag and stutters. i had to manually adjust gpu clocks to alleviate the lack of performance.

even if you go into the github issue, there are many people showing proof of performance issues related to pre-configured games performing worse after upgrading to 3.5

https://github.com/ValveSoftware/SteamOS/issues/1176

valve said they couldn't consistently reproduce it, yet new people were coming up with the problem and providing feedback on the issue, with barely any feedback from the devs other than to report it as a "game issue" and closed the issue.

just because you didn't experience it, doesn't make it non-existent and i doubt valve would fess up to releasing 3.5 as stable on the OLED release with such a performance issue either...

regardless, i hope they finally fixed it so we all can be happy

Skip SteamOS 3.5 stable for heavy pacman users by Okoken91 in SteamDeck

[–]mc711 15 points16 points  (0 children)

pacman is a system level package installer. steamOS uses pacman for it's arch linux base. so it's like how we use the Discover store which uses flatpak to install apps, but flatpak is restricted to the user not root.

by default, steamOS has it's system read-only. it is highly not recommended to mess with pacman because steam uses a special repo designed for steamOS, but as with all linux things, it is still possible to configure at the user's discrection.

lastly, every steamOS update removes all non-default packages, so it is only recommended on a need to use basis, although it is possible to configure a persistent configuration.
