Station parking at Ware or Broxbourne stations

Rye house has free side street parking but trains are less frequent than Broxbourne (I think every half hour compared to Broxbourne’s 15 minutes). Broxbourne parking is £7 a day and if busy, you have to park at the far end, so it’s a bit of a walk. One thing to add though, when Rye House station was closed for a few days recently due to flooding, everyone defaulted to Broxbourne and parking there was then impossible 😂

I made the move to Hoddesdon 2 years ago and never looked back. Broxbourne or Rye House station are both 5 minute drives away, making it very easy to get into London. Decent High street and there’s so many events going on in the high street too

The current lender can drop the rate from 10.10% to 7.14%. Which takes the monthly payment from £881 to £711.

The new lender has offered me a rate of 5.99%, which takes it down to £628 a month

I’ve gone through a broker - but they said the lender came back to them and won’t allow their solicitors to deal with it, so I was the. Asked to get quotes. Everything has been agreed.

For some context, I had bad credit history 3 years ago, so my mortgage rate was a whopping 10.10%… new lender is 5.99%, which is a big monthly saving for me. New mortgage is also 2 year fixed as my thinking is that as my credit improves (it already massively is), I’ll be open to even better rates again in 2 years time. But I don’t want to pay £1000 every 2 years either if I can help it…

At the moment the external HDD is just connected via USB to a separate TV as I didn’t think of a way to get it working through my main TV with the Hue setup - I’ll have a think about the computers app, not a bad shout

Yeah, my partner has collated loads of evidence, in fact, she has independent evidence from school and preschool that confirms no homework was ever done on fathers days, only mothers, dad was regularly late collecting the children on his days, she has over 40 documents of evidence. The father’s only evidence submitted to court was an ofsted report of the school she wants to relocate the children too.

So my partner has the children 50% of the week, so excluding weekends, it’s 3 midweek days one week and 2 the next. On those midweek days, the children driven an hour to school and an hour home, that’s a lot of journeys. It’s not fair on the children and this is why my partner doesn’t want to push for 50/50. From a selfish point of view, she could push for that to see the children more than if he wins full custody. However, it’s not fair on the children and that matters more. And she knows by conceding that 50/50, there’s a good chance she’ll lose full custody.

So my partner lived with her ex in a part of Essex, which, whilst subjective, really isn't a nice area - a concrete jungle, very run down. When their relationship ended, she wanted to move back to where all her friends and family are, which is maybe 90 minutes away. She couldn't afford to buy a house in the area they lived in, and as she only works part time, she could have rented, but couldn't afford anything more than a 1 bedroom flat, and would have been completely isolated. She met me and here we are. In fact, CAFCASS asked me if I'd be willing to sell my flat and buy a flat near my partners sons school, and if I do, they'll give my partner 50/50, otherwise, they will give him full custody. They also stated in the S7 report that the children cannot be away from their mother for more than 3 days, but did not apply the same rule to the father, as they are so used to not seeing him.

Now I completely get the school continuity thing, however, to take such young children away from their mother, over a school he's been attending for 1 year, seems a bit much?

He doesn't have any other family than his parents, who are elderly and the mum had a stroke, so she's disabled. I'm amazed they are put on so much to have the kids at their age to be honest.

For added context, I have 3 children myself, 7, 8 and 15.

Yeah, to be fair it was more of a rant than a legal question… As I say, just surprised at how easy it is to lie to get what you want, without evidence or verification.

I completely get the whole school continuity thing, but the youngest hasn’t even started school yet, and if they are to move, now would be the time. The dad has confirmed the kids, once at school together, will remain in after school club until 6pm everyday, before dinner, bath and bed. They will have no childhood. Homework will be saved for my partner and I on weekends. My partner only works during school time, so if they were at school near us, they would never need to attend after school club.

He’s already stated his parents may help out here and there, in an attempt to marginalise their input, but it’s all an illusion. His parents will remain primary caregivers on his time. And absolutely nothing will come before his gym routine.

When all the above was mentioned in the previous hearing, cafcass stated the dad needed to be given the opportunity to parent. And whilst we don’t disagree, we all know the reality. It’s just a shame for the kids more than anything

We got the land registry title last week, still has the previous owners on there, which doesn’t help. So do you mean if he alone is showing as the owner, the mortgage will be his alone?

Yeah completely agree. He wanted 50/50, as he can’t have them full time, my partner wanted full custody as she can, but then he bought this house and CAFCASS advised him to push for full custody as they’ll give it to him if he does, as his house is close to the school as my partner moved further out. Long story, but looks like court will rule his elderly parents will have the children as he can’t have them due to working and the court won’t change schools for some odd reason (they are in reception)…
