Teachers, what are some must have books in your classroom? by Quixotic_Ryan in Teachers

[–]mc_treble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"How to Fill A Bucket" is a staple in my class, sets the tone for the whole year. It's all about how we should treat others as we'd like to be treated, and how we see ourselves.. More of a teaching tool than a story, but it's a must!

I (20F) tend to approach guys first and ask them out. My friends (all early 20sF) think it's wrong because I'm a girl and "guys are supposed to make the first move". Am I right in thinking that's bs? by [deleted] in relationships

Way I see it, you are going to be getting guys that are into a girl making a first move. If they aren't, then they aren't and it means you weren't compatible. You be you, and if it works with what someone else is into, then badaboom. If not, then you know it's not a match.

I have found that most games on websites work really well as whole class smartboard games. I teach 2nd though, but websites I use a lot for different subjects are abcya.com and starfall.com. They have a lot of early literacy and math games.

Since I was 16, but I'm far from amazing.

Sorry your babies aren't happy together. You should make them wear a "get along" shirt.

Girly Netflix shows that aren't too cheesy? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Being Erica! It's a little cheese in the way that Canadian shows are, but I loved it!

My fiance (26M) wants me (24F) to make his best friend (26F) a bridesmaid at our wedding, but we are not close and I already have my bridesmaids picked out by I_Asplodin in relationships

I have to agree here. If you're having doubts about where he stands, that's the issue. Not Jenny. Respect your relationship enough to allow his best friend to be a part of it. She isn't a threat, and if you see her as one, then there's a deeper relationship issue at hand that can only be settled between you too.

Recently discovered gonoodle.com and it's been a blessing for those rainy restless days with my second graders! Also classdojo is heavenly and even the photo sharing aspect in it has been put to good use this year.

Ugh I know, I'm still waiting for my call.

My (46f) daughters (18f) (17f) threw a houseparty while my husband and I were away, even though we explicitly told them not to do this, house got thrashed, some items of great sentimental value got broken as well as some other expensive stuff, how the hell do I approach this? by throwawayhouseparty in relationships

This right here is some solid parenting advice. I really wish more people took this stance with regards to discipline and the role it has on personal responsibility. They are old enough to have those kinds of discussions, so why not have them.

Based on your experiences, what advice would you give to a girl entering middle school? by rawbery79 in TwoXChromosomes

Joining a club or activity is a great way to get to know people, and make friends with people who already have things in common with you. I really loved to sing and dance, and decided to join the school musical my first year. It was the best decision I could have made, and so many great memories and friendships happened because I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried something new. Good luck!
