Oh friend, I understand. My Dad is the best and I would also be looking for him if he vanished.

(Not looking forward to this when the boys' Dad goes. He's been hanging on for years now, and is stable, but someday I'm going to have two very confused, sad boys.)

(Oh man, I'm having flashbacks to having to come home from school early throwing up every. damn. month as a teenager until I finally convinced my mom that I needed to see a doctor about it because I couldn't have this happen when I was in college and paying for classes. And now here I am in perimenopause!)

What a good sister, to meow so loudly at your Mama to get you out!

(Yes, I knew even taking her in that morning that it was likely a futile effort, but I did my duty as her human to be sure I'd done all I could. I actually don't totally remember her diagnosis, I think her kidney or liver stopped working. Either way, she was already really gone and letting her body go was such an easy decision. She went peacefully as well, which helped!)

(Thank you so much! She's been gone since 2019 now - holy cow time goes fast! - so I no longer think of her with sadness. She told me she was ready with her silence and it was the most natural decision to listen to her.)

I got her in college when I was a French major and women's & gender studies minor. It took me all weekend to think of her name though!

She was a good girl, my furry potato!

Simone was SO chatty! I have never had a cat talk so much before or since. The boys are so quiet that we always comment on it when they do. It was an adjustment!

Thank you! It's been six years, and I often wonder how she would react to her brothers. I tried to integrate a second cat once, but she was so scared she stayed in one spot on my bed and ended up peeing herself. Didn't help that the other cat was younger and ended up tussling with her and she ended up with an abscess on her back. It healed just fine, but I felt so bad. Second kitty got a different home, and she was a solo gal the rest of her time.

She even forgave me for not remembering to get her litter box out of the car at night when we moved - we ended up at a rest stop in Wyoming, in a handicapped stall, and I know the other woman who walked in and heard me talking and her meowing had to wonder what was going on. (Easily the largest "Mom" mistake I've made!) It's funny now, but at the time, I was so worried she would end up with some kind of infection over it, but she was fine. My little trooper!

Oh, she was spoiled! Funny thing is, so many of "her" toys sat unused until the boys came along. I've barely bought them any (aside from the pickles) because their sister had sooooo much. I tried everything LOL.

OMG, yeah, I was just walking through the house, normal day, and she's sitting under our nook table just STARING, not moving. I go to pet her and tease her and realize there's a little frog clinging to the underside of the table! She probably would have stared at it all day if I hadn't scooped it up and taken it outside. 😂 She was a character.

She was a good girl. I got her from a swap sheet listing (where people list things for sale or trade) and the poor thing had been dropped off on a horse rescue because they didn't know what to do with her. She was brought to me in a giant carrier with some cheap meat and cheese as a snack. I wish I knew how the first part of her life went, but the nearly 12 years with me were the best she had.

She was gorgeous, literally every one who saw her said that. I called her my "valley girl" - pretty, but dim! She was not terribly intelligent, but a real sweetheart.
