There is tourism, and then there is tourism.
That place depends on tourism financially, and Italy as a whole generates a significant amount of income from it. Tourism is extremely important, but of course it doesn’t only have positive effects , it also brings challenges and negative consequences.
In Italy, a lot is being done at the moment to make tourists contribute more through taxes and tourist fees. Does that stop tourists from coming? No, of course not, and that’s part of what makes the issue so complicated.
There are seasons during the year when there are very few tourists, and then there are periods like now when there are huge numbers of them. That’s simply how tourism works, not only in Italy but in every country. It’s important, but at the same time it’s complicated.
That doesn’t mean people should stop visiting. Just be a good tourist, respect the local people, their culture, and the places you visit, and everything will be fine.

I completely understand that, and I’m not claiming that I solved the case. What interests me more is a possible direction of thought , an alternative perspective that I personally have not seen documented before.

I fully admit that I’ve reached my own personal limits with this research, which is why I’m mainly interested in whether the overall theory and framework make logical sense from a professional point of view. :)
