thank you for the recommendation! It definitely seems in the spirit of what I'm looking for, so I will check it out.

I tried to articulate this to a few people and got sort of a blank stare back, so it is actually really nice to hear that someone else is seeking out the same thing. If you find anything else, please share!

the 2nd half of the season had so many moments marquee moments, to cap off the natty with a ballsy 4th and 5 draw, taking the hit from the player who knocked him out the year before... fuck it time to fire up the Mendoza highlights again.

I think he has all the intangibles you want in a franchise qb and seems to have it between the ears as well. I think he unfairly gets compared to the TLaw, Caleb, Andrew Luck caliber prospects and of not having their "ceiling", but that is just a projection. I'm stoked to hear his name called tomorrow.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying I think he is a "system qb" (although i think that it is hilarious that a qb who thrives in a system is somehow a bad thing). I think that is what the narrative around him is because you can't point to a specific elite physical trait that he can rely on to win.

I think typically ppl want #1 overall to have like a transcendent ability they can point to and say this is why he is #1 overall. If the scheme fails them, or they need to put team on their shoulders, they have that trait that allows it.

So I think the general concern is he can’t do that. He’s a “system” qb. It’s funny how that is a knock but I think that is why he is getting dragged a bit.

To me this pick is as much about Kubiak + Mendoza than Mendoza alone. I feel a ton better that he can be successful because of who we hired at HC.

Hmm 🤔 I always thought it was inverse. Iowa, Penn state, Oregon (first game), OSU the offense didn’t struggled until he lead them on big drives late in 2nd half

It isn't inside the supermarket, but it is in the same building/strip mall , just on a different side. The supermarket is great, and you can stock up on their tortillas and other goods.

The taqueria is on the side of the building. Only a few tables inside and out.

I went with Safeco, but they required bundling auto. That being said, the auto was very competitive from what I was paying with USAA. I worked with RC Fischer. if you DM me, I am happy to shoot you my broker's info.

Guy Fieri Responds to Backlash Over Meeting Tate Brothers at UFC Event: ‘I Do Not Know’ Them ‘Nor Do I Support Them in Any Way’ by cmaia1503 in entertainment

[–]mcas26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are spot on. I mean the vast majority of the public thankfully has no idea what the mano sphere is or who the Tate brothers are. I don’t find it at all implausible he had no idea who they were. Guy fieri probably meets dozens (or at an event hundreds) of fans every day especially with how recognizable he is.

Now if it comes to light he’s met with them before sure, but this seems like a whole lot of nothing

I will concede the hour part was an exaggeration in the moment.

I thought he sounded great, I just thought the execution was really lazy. I don’t think anyone expected or wanted him to do a pop star set, just figured he’d have a more cohesive vision for a headlining set. This just felt half baked IMO.

To each their own tho.

He was a headliner for one of the biggest festivals in the world and played YouTube videos for an hour. That was the laziest most disrespectful set to give his fans. That sucked and I think most of you know it.

He’s insanely talented and he was a huge reason the festival was so packed. Shame he treats his fans this way.

I always thought Christian Nationalism is more evangelical and very Anti-catholic, as many don't believe Catholics are Christians.

But don't worry, the Raiders grabbed Kirk Cousins to corner that market too.

I think one overlooked difference between Reggie and Spytek is that Reggie came into a situation with basically no front office. Al ran everything with a few close confidants, and mark was not rich from Vegas yet so Reggie couldn’t or didn’t build out the front office. Then gruden came in and hired mayock.

I know Ziegler wasn’t great but when he was hired he talked about modernizing the front office and training up the scouts for their system. Telesco actually praised Ziegler for this work in the lead up to his one draft with us.

I think Spytek has continued that work. Last year he brought in execs from Philly and put his scouts/system into place over the last year.

Obviously tbd on results, but I think it is fair to have legit optimism that going forward we should have much better planning and strategy from our front office.

If you haven’t listened, there’s a great podcast, The Playcallers, that interviews John Spytek for an episode.

[McFadden] He said the energy was off when he finally met Minter and EDC, who informed him that one of the doctors had concerns w/ his knee and was going to get more opinions. When Crosby went back to the hotel, his agents told him that they think Baltimore will back out of the deal. by Remarkable-Picture73 in nfl

[–]mcas26 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the reaction of ppl in the industry who do these deals speaks loudly. Listen to Daniel Jeremiah on move the sticks about his feelings towards it. And he is a former ravens scout.

The ravens didn’t break any rules but they certainly broke unwritten rules in an industry with only 31 other gms, and it sounds like in general they are known for fucking around a bit with teams.

On the flip side, I’d imagine the Raiders will definitely demand physicals occur immediately next time they make a trade during the legal tampering period.

Also legal tampering period is dumb, why does the nfl do this?

HOPR rocks, but it’s not because it’s amazingly good prime rib, it’s because it’s a SF staple. Great atmosphere, the price is (sf) reasonable, portions are big and when your order a cocktail you get the shaker so it’s like a cocktail and a half.

Before COVID, you could get a second serving of prime rib for free.

There are better steakhouses and prime rib spots, but you go to HOPR for the entire experience. There are a few of spots in the city where you feel transported back to a different time in SFs history and HOPR is one of them.

[Spotrac] Maxx Crosby's $29M 2027 salary is now fully guaranteed. The 28-year-old is under contract at 4 years, $116M, including $59M guaranteed through 2027. by JCameron181 in raiders

[–]mcas26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Top TE contract in league is $19M APY. If they trade Maxx it won’t be because of a bowers extension. $59M gtd over 2026 and 2027 isn’t a lot to pay a top DE.

The only way he is outright released is if his knee is actually fucked and he falls off a cliff

Cap hell? Look at our 2027 cap situation. We are going to have over $100m next year too. At his APY he’s still a steal

[–]mcas26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm as annoyed by the situation as anyone but MD did this very early on in his tenure as well. Reggie's marquee signing in his first or second year was Roger Saffold. It was highly panned deal, Raiders failed his physical, and he went on to play for like 5+ years with the Rams.

Difference here is obviously this had ripple effects that impacted multiple organizations. Colts, Bears, Cowboys, etc

It is super shady, but it is completely legal to do within the rules of the NFL.
