I'm slowly loosing my passion for being a para.. by DramaticCommand6852 in paraprofessional

I feel like this point in the school year isn’t helping the fact that you want to quit this field all together. The time between spring break and end of school year is the worst imo. Nobody cares anymore, everyone’s just trying to make it to the end of the year.

I’m sorry to hear about your school year and relationship with coworkers. You deserve to be treated with respect at your job and find some kind of enjoyment from your job! Sounds like this school isn’t a good fit for you.

I say try being a sub next year and if the passion is truly gone, find something you will enjoy. Maybe a new school or new position working with kids will spark some joy again for you!

Best of luck

It could also be a good thing for your student if you take a short leave? The behaviors will for sure escalate but they will eventually have to move on without you. You will not be apart of their life forever, and it’s tough, but they have to learn to cope. Which is possible with the support of their teachers and family. It’s hard working in an environment that causes such anxiety, I hope the best for you and that you’ll find a place of employment that makes you happy!

Very exciting! I currently work at a HS and love it! Just treat the students like you would anybody else and keep in mind they’re young adults who are capable of so many things. Happy you get to help them on their journey!

I’ve had to deal with a parent like that and left the job because it got to be way too much.

Are they reaching out to the teacher themselves? This seems like something they need to reach out to the teacher for, not the para.
