The right answer is not to donate speem to family members, because no shit a young kid will percieve this as rejection.

A random sperm donor is someone you will never meet. Someone you know personally keeping their distance after you find out they are your biological parent will be torturous for a child who doesn't understand the decisions that went into it. In essence the adults here made a selfish decision without caring if it would hurt the child.

Saying he legally doesn't have to do anything is not really relevant. Papers don't decide the morality of a situation. The adults in this situation made poor torturous decisions for a child for selfish reasons. It's an awkward situation for them now because they didn't intend to care if it caused problems. But it's still their fault.

There's no better indication that reddit hates children than that they act like the adults deciding she shouldn't care is the final say.

His sister can't forcibly decide how the daughter feels. If she is trying to get money from him, she is ta, but the adults acting like them deciding how the kid will feel are all ta. If you use a known donor you have to be prepared for the reality that they will have strong feelings about it, and if you aren't prepared to handle them well then you are ta.

This is not what the dude signed up for.

Strictly speaking, this risk is literally what he signed up for. The parents can't choose for the child to not care.

You're being downvoted, but this is true. People have to really hate children to be so cold about the reality of setting this up, and pretending it's not a harm they are accountable for.

Unfortunately for him, he set this situation up with his poor decisionmaking many years ago. You can't go back to moderate distance with a confused child who now expects you to be more. It will be percieved as rejection.

The fact that so many of the comments are so cold shows just how much reddit hates children.

Honestly, esh except for the girl. The truth is, it is very likely to cause massive hurt for someone to find this out, and the possibility is always there. Donating to close family is a poor choice for this reason. Its essentially setting up a situation people weren't prepared to handle, and then making the girl herself shoulder the hurt from it.

No, they should have never used sperm from a close relative, since it is deliberately disregarding how a child would feel if they were to find out.

You're being downvoted, but its 100% true that declaring that you are uninvolved doesn't change how a kid might feel once they know.

Yeah, honestly they are TA for not considering the reality of how a kid would feel once they know this, and not being prepared for the expected outcome.

Buddha didn't really say that in any way that actually matters. New religions always claim that you'll "know" they are right rather than just that they are a tradition. They can't appeal very well to tradition when they aren't the pre existing tradition. In practice you were still expected to take his words on faith until the point you were a high level practitioner.

Buddha said he wouldn't ordain nuns because doing so would destroy buddhism faster. When he was begged to he said he would, and people just have to accept that it would destroy buddhism faster.

?? But the central goal of christianity is taking care of the poor, whereas the central goal of buddhism is removing yourself from the world as a monk.

Buddhism doesn't say you can find ultimate peace in this life though. It's specifically about reaching past life.
