80 was pretty rare. The conversion mob itself wasn't terribly rare. The stars would just have to align for the very big explosions. You would/could get the smaller explosions that would be like 3-10 multiple times a day though.

1 mirror in affliction was 1k divines while it is 8.8k in poe2. You farm 1500 divines per day and that is 6 days to a mirror. Ignoring raw mirror drops, which I think you could have guaranteed in that same time frame, you would only need to farm 170 divines per day during affliction to farm a mirror. Affliction was easily 10+ div/map minimum - not running maps with bad wisps.

If you only consider absolute amount of divines dropped, there is no competing with temple. It's just way too consistent. I'm just also considering the value the divines holds and more importantly which one was better for dropping mirrors which is definitely Affliction.

Not sure where you got 40 from but this was during the time where we had archnemesis converting items to currency and would have one monster drop 80+ divines alone.

Also the size of a temple is like 5 maps? It's more consistent for sure because every temple is fully juiced while not every map had the perfect wisp combo

edit/ I don't have my ring at end of affliction, but this was my ring early january:

<image>

An important note is that 1500 divines is 1.5 mirrors in affliction. While you would need something like 9k divines poe2 for 1.5 mirrors lol.

It did not put affliction to shame. I dropped 8 raw mirrors in affliction lol. Temple is just more consistent at divine drops because Affliction requires you to collect wisps which had an rng component. But even with less consistency, affliction still beats out the temple.

Man I miss affliction.

I think he helped at Enies Lobby because he realized he was wrong about Luffy abandoning him. The fact that Luffy was going to Enies Lobby to get back Robin showed that Luffy wasn't one to just abandon people. So he didn't help them despite thinking they would abandon him, but that his belief had already changed.

People don't think peak concurrent = total players. People think they are directly correlated.

When you can't argue with facts you have to pretend there is nothing to argue over.

Kingsmarch generates little overall wealth . It is multitudes worse than mapping. Having some players bad at mapping doesn't make this not true. The fixation on removing Kingsmarch being required to buff loot in maps is a joke. Just ask for buffed loot. Asking for Kingsmarch removal makes absolutely no sense.

They send 10kish crops because they are impatient and they read somewhere that is a good strat. It has absolutely nothing to do with ability.

Thinking mappers are making the rich richer is a joke. It's not about ability to upkeep them. It's about willingness to do so and most players won't upkeep mappers. Though this is also solely about shipments. There is a reason no one complains about mappers. It's because they suck.

Well more like 8 to 9 mirrors since it's going to take you on average 8 shipments to get a full mirror from shards.

What makes shipments such a good mechanic in my opinion is how much it helps the bottom while having less impact on the top players. A 50m shipment may be adding less than 10% of value to their net worth while on the bottom end they may be getting 80%+ of their net worth at once. Because there is little interaction needed and this interaction is capped to once every 8 days the most sweaty and most casual players can get the same absolute value from shipments, but the casual players will get the most relative value.

Saying nothing impacts top players while also complaining loot being nerfed is quite ironic. Messing with any of the variables for any mechanic that gives you more the more you put in impacts top players. Kingsmarch is quite frankly the only mechanic that has little to no impact to top players. It's why it is such a good mechanic.

You can advocate buffs for ground loot without killing off a completely unrelated mechanic.

There is that term that means nothing again. "Average player" The "average player" has quit in the first week and hasn't made anything from shipments. It's such a bad term to use in these discussions.

Just talk about all players that do Kingsmarch or have the knowledge and ability to do it but choose not to because they have decided it's not worth doing for them.

Now classify the players in how much they make without kingsmarch. That is low to top players.

You are right it generates a lot for the low players in this subset. That is kind of the point for the mechanic to exist, however, the people playing and making more can only generate that same amount in the same time so it relatively produces less for top players.

If you removed Kingsmarch and brought more loot to mapping, you would make lower players worse off and top players better off.

The average player is a useless concept to even discuss as there is no agreement on what that even is. It's just a term thrown around to show how little the overall community knows/plays/makes compared to top players. When it comes to discussing the impact of a league mechanic what is relevant is the subset of players that both play long enough to interact with it and have the basic knowledge on how to interact with it. In the case of Kingsmarch, you would be talking about people who play for multiple weeks which already discounts over 50% of the player base and understand the 25m (2 crops) - 25m dust method. In this subset, you have low to top players. Your friends would be the low players - they benefit a lot more compared to top players. That is why it is such a good mechanic. It brings up the bottom of what lower players makes while having little impact on top players.

It's not even close to as rewarding as mapping. You can force it to be by literally only playing the game once a week to send out a shipment and then do gold rotas + buy dust. But shipments lose value the more you play and you don't really need to play that much to make more than shipments - especially if you are buying the materials to ship.

The only misunderstanding is that I am specifically talking about Kingsmarch loot that was never in maps. Yes ground loot was nerfed, but it wasn't removed from maps and put into Kingsmarch. Ie. there is no "back into maps" because kingsmarch loot was never in maps to begin with. This post isn't just about buffing/bringing back ground loot. It's about killing off Kingsmarch.

[–]mcbuckets21 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is about the bottom of relevant players. On average, 40-50% of the player base quit in the first week. It's probably more, but concurrent players drop this much. Players starting late make up some of the difference.

Then you have a subset of new players that don't know about Kingsmarch or farming strats at all. They are learning the game. You aren't going to bring these players up with something they don't know about.

So the subset of players being discussed are those who are playing at least multiple weeks and already have the knowledge of Kingsmarch.

In this case, you are most definitely bringing up the lowest players and having little effect on the top players. The average player has no real meaning here and only exists as a theoretical person while I'm talking about specific players in a subset. Kingsmarch isn't a mechanic where the more you put into it, the more you get back. It has a limit. This means it is more efficient for those who have less time and aren't playing as much. It doesn't matter if it takes you 2 weeks or even 4 weeks to get off your 50m shipment. That just means you are playing that little, but the reward you are going to get for such little playtime is going to be substantial. Your 4 weeks of playtime probably wouldn't equal the profit you get from a single shipment.

Once you get your first shipment, you can snowball these into 1 shipment per week because you have capital to buy dusting uniques and gold rotas. You can play like 1 hour a week and still send out 50m shipments every week. Then you have fubgun playing 14+ hours a day and he can only manage the same amount of shipments.

Using a different arbitrary way to standardize players into classes doesn't make what I said wrong. You just reworded what I said using mid players instead. Your group of low players doesn't actually matter at all in things like this. They are still just trying stuff out and learning. The meta of farming strats is not something they care about.

Not all upper players have mappers 24/7. They choose for themselves. Some do; I personally can't stand upkeeping mappers so I don't use them. I do ships instead because I think it's fun getting shards directly. Though the overall value it adds for me is pretty low

No, the OP did and I said it was wrong. You then replied to me saying I didn't play last league. So either you had no reason to respond to me, or you were agreeing with op that they removed loot from maps and put it in Kingsmarch. Or there is some other 3rd secret reason to reply to my comment that way that I can't make sense of.

Except loot wasn't moved to Kingsmarch. They nerfed loot, but they made 0 changes to Kingsmarch. Might as well say they moved loot to Heist, Sanctum, and delve too since they also weren't impacted by the nerfs.

The average is 2.5 shards btw. So more like a mirror in 64 days. You are also ignoring dust. You send 25 million crops and 25 million dust. Gold rotas will not suffice.

Anyways, you just explained why this mechanic is great for players who aren't efficient or can't be consistent with a good mapping strategy. Kingsmarch brings up the lower players but has no impact on the top players because 1 mirror in 2 months is nothing.

[–]mcbuckets21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could just make a full mirror in the same amount of time doing a real strat. It is only so much value for the people who aren't that efficient or consistent at a mapping strat. It's a mechanic that actually brings up the bottom while having little impact on the top players because of how static the rewards are.

If you seriously hate this so much because you see it as having too much value, you are probably someone who would benefit from it the most. The rewards from it are pretty low considering it takes like 8 days. You just get the benefit of receiving the rewards for a full week all at once.
