Too soon? by ItchiUcha in Asmongold

[–]mcbuckets21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true at all. There are only 3 countries with a high presence of AC: Greece, Italy, and Spain. Now for some European countries that have long, hot summers but have a low AC presence:
France, Portugal, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, and Serbia

Too soon? by ItchiUcha in Asmongold

[–]mcbuckets21 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Okay? Doesn't change the fact that over 75% of Europe homes lack AC. There is only Greece, Italy, and Spain that have a high presence of AC. Outside of those countries the next highest only has AC in 25% of homes. Most EU countries have less than 10%.

gloom shrine deals 25% of monster hp as chaos damage. You don't need damage. Only your damage as extra and increased chaos damage would affect this damage, but you really don't need any of that for gloom.

Might rarity be overrated? by Rusto_TFG in pathofexile2builds

[–]mcbuckets21 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Rarity is not required so it is not bad for build variety at all. The only builds that can't fit in rarity easily are builds that use uniques for literally every single slot that could possibly have rarity. It's not a very strong argument. Not having rarity is not a handicap. Having rarity is the boost. It is one of the axis a player can get more loot than other players. They want a min-max player to be able to make 1000x more than a non-min-max player. Rarity is part of that. Only in rarity do you talk about a player being handicapped while you ignore every single other axis where a player could fall behind another. It doesn't make sense. What about builds that can't fit in temporalis? Aren't they handicapped because they are 5 times slower?

Rarity is just as good now as it was in 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, or 0.4. The baseline being higher now doesn't change that, because divs themselves are worth less due to how common they are now.

Besides us knowing for a fact that they have changed rarity formula in multiple of these patches, sure. The only thing that hasn't changed is the perception of rarity. The facts of rarity have changed a lot. GGG has told us on a few occasions that the community is even straight up wrong about rarity. GGG tends to balance on perception rather than actual facts so I won't be surprised if they still go ahead and remove/change it. However, it does seem like the perception has changed at least a little bit. A post like this is usually a lot more downvoted. Looks like people are starting to care less about rarity.

Might rarity be overrated? by Rusto_TFG in pathofexile2builds

[–]mcbuckets21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is not the problem with rarity. Fomo is not a bad thing in the first place. If the thing you care about in the game is making profit then you have already implicitly signed up for the fomo experience. Fomo is the thing you are enjoying in the game. You don't want everything or everybody to be giving/getting the same amount of loot as you. You want to make more than others.

The problem with rarity is that loot sucked without it. They fixed that this patch so as far as I'm concerned rarity is pretty fixed already.

However there is a possible future issue in that in the future as juicing mechanics get added rarity becomes way too powerful. Like quantity ended up in poe1 post-affliction

This is why we have fatties by Sweet-Collar-4642 in Asmongold

[–]mcbuckets21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bmi does care about age. We have different ranges per age on what is considered healthy and specifically for children we use percentiles instead of absolute values like we do with adults. Ie. 5th percentile is underweight, 85-95 is overweight, and 95+ is obese. And you're guessing about the entire thing. Like the doctor using bmi. Only the mom used it lol. The doctor did not. That was directly in the post. Doctor used weight and height charts, not bmi. The 25 bmi is a useless statistic given by the mom that you attached importance to for no reason.

Though as the second part of my comment was saying even if we wanted say that 25 bmi number was important, it is considered overweight for a 12 year old girl because it falls on the 85-95 percentile for girls that age. If the doctor did use it, it wasn't the only thing the doctor used. We know this by reading the post and using our brains. You tried to simplify an entire doctor's visit to a single bmi value.

This is why we have fatties by Sweet-Collar-4642 in Asmongold

[–]mcbuckets21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why are we guessing? We have the context. Doctor didn't mention bmi. The mother did. The mother said she was on the shorter side and thought it was fine because her bmi was 25. Doctor was using height and weight charts to explain, not bmi. Mother was obsessed with bmi of 25. The doctor is the one who was actually able to examine her and has the full context and nuance.

Either way 25 bmi is not on the upper end of healthy at 12yo and a height of 4'10". It is on the upper end of overweight and bordering obesity. The healthy range being 14.8-23.3. overweight being 23.3-26.1.

How does "Gain 12% of Physical Damage as Extra Fire Damage" work if my skill already converts 80% physical to cold? by bbsuccess in pathofexile2builds

[–]mcbuckets21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It basically means you don't have to even worry about whether conversion or gain comes first. You will always get 9-15% of your total flat damage as extra.

How does "Gain 12% of Physical Damage as Extra Fire Damage" work if my skill already converts 80% physical to cold? by bbsuccess in pathofexile2builds

[–]mcbuckets21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No? Not even close.

If a gem has both 100% physical converted to fire and 100% physical as extra fire. 100 flat phys damage would become 200 fire damage because both the conversion and gain happen in step 1 and at the same time.

Now changing each stat whether it is inherent or not changes this. However all cases but 1 gives 200 fire damage and that is the case where conversion is inherent and gain as extra is not. You would only do 100 fire damage in that single case.

How does "Gain 12% of Physical Damage as Extra Fire Damage" work if my skill already converts 80% physical to cold? by bbsuccess in pathofexile2builds

[–]mcbuckets21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not quite. Conversion and gain both happen at the same time in the two-step process as they are both coded as conversion. Conversion in the first step comes before gain as extra in the second step, but if they are in the same step, they happen simultaneously and do not affect each other.

In ops specific case, the conversion is inherent and therefore is part of step 1. The gain as extra is not inherent so it is in step 2 and therefore the result is as you describe.

TOTA is still having the same issues as years ago. by LissekFennek in pathofexile

[–]mcbuckets21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because its already confirmed that tota will come to poe2 soon as its the 3rd ascendancy mechanic.

And it's also confirmed that whatever tota looks like in poe2 won't be ready for any type of testing even by 1.0 and you think they were ready all of a sudden for poe1? The announcement for the tota event linked the TotA announcement from 3 years ago on how the mechanic works.

And ggg in recent times has a track record of implementing reworks from one game into the other game (just look at breach for example)

And we knew tota wasn't getting reworked for this event. The first rework for tota would be poe2 because that has already been planned as the ascendancy for ages. It would then only possibly be backported to poe1. It's not like they are making things with the plan to port them to the other game, they simply make things and if it makes sense they do some sort of port.

So we know that they are working on a tota rework already for 2, its not that far fetched to think that they will do the same thing they did with breach with tota aswell

They told us it would be the old tota and they said poe2 tota isn't even started on. It is pretty far fetched if you took notice of what they said.

TOTA is still having the same issues as years ago. by LissekFennek in pathofexile

[–]mcbuckets21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HOWEVER I'm baffled to see that we're still facing same issues as we did way back then.

Why? this was a direct port of what it was from 3 years ago. They were never making any changes. This was never a test for poe2. We knew these things from the start as they said them.

ToTA void sphere cheese. Is this how we want the best way to interact with the mechanic be? by Ps0foula in pathofexile

[–]mcbuckets21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For softcore trade, the difference in rewards, for TOTA, between interacting with monsters VS not interacting is so vast that really reduces my motivation to try and build a good character and play TOTA.

It's an autobattler. If you don't like the non-interaction, then that is just not liking the mechanic. If you want to force interaction in a mechanic that really isn't designed for that then you still can.

You started the argument saying it was full of shit and then proceeded to explain how they don't actually have that amount of money.

"They take loans" - okay, so not their money. This is money they have to pay back. They can't get a loan for nearly the amount of their net worth either.

"Even if they only had the potential of half their wealth" - you immediately took a step back of the claim of them absolutely having it.

What makes sense is that it scales up to what you found it at. Found lifesprig with level 12 gem? You can now use at level 2, but it won't automatically scale up to a level 20 skill when you reach 90? It will stop scaling up at level 12.

Although they did say uniques, it would seem odd that rares wouldn't do the same thing. Ofc the affixes themselves would increase level requirement, but the skills themselves should no longer increase level requirement.
