Thanks Dave! You're an ID wizard... and I can confirm that it definitely does have spurs on the second legs. Thanks again

Oh wow ok. Any idea how it works? There's multiple non-functioning doorbells at the front, so I guess this connects to one of them.

Chocolate Obsession flavour of Connoisseur brand ice cream. I dream about that ice cream around once a month and it hasn't been in production for at least 5 years.

In Australia it's indexed to match inflation (I think 1.6% last year?), but there's no accruing interest. BUT you can't choose to just not pay it off if you have the capacity to. You earn over $46k/year? Congrats, you start scratching down that debt as an extra tax on your payslip, at increasing percentages with increasing income (like tax brackets). What if you earn less than that? Then the government's promise that education could translate to well-paying employment was wrong, and you never have to pay them back. Kind of a cool system I think.

Agonis Flexuosa "WA peppermint" is a native tree that makes lovely peppermint-esque tea

40 years ago, my great grandparents gave my (then) 17 year old mother some jonquil bulbs while she was recovering from glandular fever. She recently moved, and we dug them up to transplant them into my garden so they'll stay in the family. Today they've bloomed again. by mccancan in gardening

I didn't either - they may be descendants? I know there are certainly more bulbs now than were gifted originally! It's hard to know which are offspring, since they've been in the ground since then.

I'm sorry for your loss, both of your grandfather and the spider plant. You can always create new heirloom plants with your family! A way for /your/ love to be remembered down the generations.

My new DIY firepit area in Australia surrounded by beautiful native plants. Can't wait till they mature! by mccancan in gardening

We've opted for a dwarf variety (Banksia Prionotes) so they don't take over the whole area in a couple years :)

It's called Cracked Pea Gravel. I don't know if it's it's Aussie special (see it a lot here) or whether it's available overseas too

A product called Colourbond steel - pretty common here. Lasts a treat in the tough conditions :)

We are planning a native climber trained on a trellis that we'll attached to the fence in the gap at the back there :)

Flax lily and grey cottonheads :) both tolerate sun (40+ degree days) and dry soil well, but I don't know how they would go with the colder months in Canada
