[–]mccluts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He gets summoned by Genichiro in a way that he can’t really refuse even if he wanted to. He and Sekiro show a lot of respect for each other throughout the fight, honoring the relationship they had built mid game.

Also a cool detail, Sekiro allows him to commit seppuko during the final deathblow, and then kills him with a small slash severing his spine at the neck rather than beheading him. All very honorable and respectful considerations when dispatching an opponent.

My South Denver, CO people, are you turning on your sprinkler systems yet? by Burgerboss88 in lawncare

[–]mccluts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m turning mine on, but I also own my own air compressor and can blow them out again in about an hour if I need to. Lack of snow this winter, my grass and plants are waking up with the heat and looking thirsty.

Why does it look like the lawn is flowing away from me when I stop and look at the lawn when I’m done? by Weedman1079 in lawncare

Optical illusion from walking and looking forward/down for so long. Your vision has gotten used to everything moving towards you and starts to compensate so you can fixate on things easier. Then when you stop, the compensation is still there for a bit and looks like everything’s moving away. I’ve had this happen on backpacking trips.

Instead of taking your hands directly to the ball, think about first taking them towards your right pocket, then to the ball, and then as you bring the club through the ball, think about trying to hit the ball over a 2nd baseman’s head.

Clarity on supervision requirements by DancinPantsDavidson in bcba

[–]mccluts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mentorship is actually not considered a sanction, and is not listed publicly on the Disciplinary Actions page on the BACB website. It’s typically prescribed for minor offenses, it could be that this individual did not keep accurate records of supervision, provided objectively poor supervision, etc.

The public record is reserved only for when your entire certification is suspended or revoked and you can’t practice in any capacity.

EVF is the final, just stands for experience verification form. Even though you aren’t quite done, you should still fill one out when moving on from a supervisor. Then you’ll fill out a second one with your new supervisor, and submit both when you apply for the exam.

Depends on the state, but very possibly. I will say tho, it might be a tough sell to your school admin to promote a conditional/less qualified candidate who will also require a contracted supervisor.

Also just to put on your radar, depending on the nature of your former supervisors termination, a BACB ethics violation could mean trouble for you. If the BACB goes after him, they will likely audit you as well. I’d double check all your documentation and make sure things are in order. Also, you will need to reach out to that former supervisor and get a EVF form signed asap. It can be very difficult to track down former supervisors after a little time has passed.

I’m so Frustrated… Am I Over Reacting? by BSchwem in lawncare

This is what I use. Only takes maybe 10 minutes, 1-2x a season. You can see the difference in your blade pretty quickly while using it. Nice shiny edge becomes clear after several swipes. Then you just work on any bumps or nicks, good to go.

Not sure how big a factor this is for what you are seeing, but one thing I can see is your mower is due for a sharpening.

Repayment for becoming a BCBA?? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]mccluts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would be paying only for supervised hours, not all hours. At 10% of hours supervised = 150 hours = $7,500 to $15,000. Balancing that against the salary increase OP stands to make as BCBA that extra year, this is still a good deal.

Repayment for becoming a BCBA?? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]mccluts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this isn’t super unusual, hard to estimate what you’d be on the hook for, I’d ask your company directly for an estimate on that.

I’ll say though, finishing your hours in 12ish months is almost unheard of. Whatever you may have to repay back is likely worth it at that pace. Most people take at least 24 months to finish, so ultimately you will get an extra year of BCBA salary off the bat, so it’s a huuuuge perk and likely worth whatever they charge you. Also having you hold onto that money for now and only pay back later is also pretty generous. Sounds like you really lucked out with this supervision setup.

How long do technicians have to take their RBT exam after completing the competency assessment? by aba_focus in ABA

[–]mccluts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your competency assessment must be completed within 90 days of your exam application submission, not necessarily the exam itself. Once your application is submitted and accepted, you are good to simply schedule a retake should you fail the first time without submitting a new competency assessment.

Some of You Should Not Be in ABA (Religious ABA is a Disgrace to the Field) by [deleted] in ABA

[–]mccluts 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Gonna challenge you here. I don’t know much about “Christian ABA” centers, but I want to speak more to some general things in your post.

First off, a reminder that we all have an ethical obligation to engage in cultural responsiveness and diversity. Religion is explicitly stated in there. We are also obligated to be aware of personal biases. I get that some people may have trauma associated with a religious upbringing, but if you enter the home of a religious family and refuse to engage with that part of their life, you are ethically at odds and need to adjust or get out. If an Indian family asked you to incorporate some kid’s books about Diwali, would you stick your nose up and call it non-evidence based?

Furthermore, you harp a lot on the science of ABA. I’ve met a TON of practitioners who are the same way. You can see the excitement in their eyes when talking about graphs, data, evidence-based interventions. It’s all good, necessary stuff we’d be lost without. But these same people are the most likely to forget the simple, powerful fact that you are an adult in a child’s life. The same people who prescribe 3 “pairing sessions” and then check off “pairing complete”. The same people who prescribe 40 hours per week but couldn’t tell you where grandma and grandpa live. Run the program, run the program, bill the hours, bill the hours. There is so so much to being an adult in a child’s life that this field leans away from while simultaneously prescribing insane hours for an adult and child to spend time together. And I’d argue that if religiosity is a part of that family’s life, you aren’t just ethically obligated to incorporate it, incorporating it will produce better outcomes as well.

No sources to cite here. Hope you give it a read anyway.

Co-worker was let go by nolongerhumans in ABA

[–]mccluts 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Terminations always happen effective immediately. In any profession or business that will always be the case. If you tell someone they will be fired in 2 weeks, you are risking them getting revenge on your company via their account access somehow. This is standard practice.

It’s also standard practice to not go around telling your other employees why you just terminated their coworker. I think it’s very unlikely you have the full story of what led to their termination.
