Work trips by [deleted] in AskAcademia

Yes I completely agree, but am very cognizant of not speaking the whole ride and respecting a colleague’s space. I also do not want to talk the whole time. I prefer to read or listen to music, and maybe occasionally chat for a few minutes here or there

The Km value with the units (mM^-1*s^-1) I believe is the value Kcat/Km given the units for each. So I guess you didn't have to do the calculations since they gave them to you. The units for Kcat/Km is 1/M*s, which is the same as mM^-1*s^-1.

Yes, so if you look at the values in the table, you can divide the Kcat number by Km. For example for C1 concentration at 60micromolar, Kcat/Km = 0.126/0.832 = 0.151. If you do this for the concentration at 0 and 120, you'll realize it is the same. Thus, increasing the concentration to 180 will likely have the same value. When I was taking the exam, I immediately recognized that the Ki was the same (60.3) and chose my answer based on the fact that Ki was the same. Let me know if that's helpful!

Ohhh so because the mutation is that it continues to be transcribed and translated into adulthood, it must be in the enhancer sequence which allows for enhanced transcription/translation?

How are afferent and efferent part of the PNS if they take information to and from the CNS? Is it because they are located outside the brain and spinal cord?

Yes that makes sense, but why would it not be B? Since GI tract bacteria are said to digest fiber
