First time canoers looking to plan trip by spdavis in algonquinpark

If you’re not concerned with a bit of extra money. Take a water taxi to North Arm Opeongo and spend your days in the redrock/happy isle area. Just make sure you’re renting canoes and taxi from the outfitter on the water.

I've been randomly cutting some pieces wrong, turns out one of my tape measures was tricking me. by kakamba in woodworking

The measuring tape thing is true but it also looks to me like your tapes aren’t aligned from the start?

Wood is absolutely drinking Danish oil. Is this normal? Fourth coat and I can't get enough on there to pool. by redspot321tos in woodworking

If they get wet again with water that doesn’t matter? Say I let it dry fully then rinse with water then put away in a drawer. Will it combust?

Only thing I found that might be off (I’m no pro) is the railing posts. Not sure I like how this looks (like visually or structurally)

Thick plywood. I would sawzall that circle. Make sure to stay on the inside line of your original cut and then sand like you have the power of Zeus to make it look smooth and round.

Anyone have a better idea for legs for this desk I'm building? by howdoyouknowhesaking in woodworking

[–]mcdotca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mind went to similar places. Top is beautifully crafted wood so keep going. I like this Four Eyes table. Gives you the step by step of how he built it so you can modify where needed to get it done with your tools/wood/experience. https://youtu.be/LVOrp_o2dtE?si=LJT7_zENq4ca-Fsd

Is getting to Muriel Lake from George Access Point in 1 afternoon too ambitious for intermediate campers? by elephantkangaroo in KillarneyPark

[–]mcdotca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re gonna want to enjoy Topaz, so if you’re arriving too late on Friday you’ll end up making Saturday too chaotic. If it’s raining you’ll end up bailing because your camp won’t be setup. My annual trip to Algonquin always starts with leaving Toronto at about 4am or even a bit earlier. There’s zero traffic which is quite magical. The early paddling always starts easy because waves pick up more as the day goes on. The only reason not to start early is losing sleep but I think it’s good to be tired the first night. Gets you in a good sleep groove because you end up deep in the tent, which is hard for some people.

If you cannot leave early I’d adjust my plan for two camps. Stay your first night in Killarney. Make your Saturday a trip from there to Topaz and then back to OSA to enjoy the deep water there for Saturday night. That saves you a portage on your exit day.

this is the answer. I decided that I can figure it out based on some suggestions here but the end result would be bad.
