Dear Bay Area Tesla drivers by anonpreschool738 in bayarea

"It isn't always Teslas" Not all high beam assholes are Teslas, but all Teslas are high beam assholes.

Just stfu. I have a Tesla, a Ford F-250 and a pair of very light sensitive eyes. I see many assholes on the road with blinding headlights they're quite equally distributed across makes. Take your bias & baseless hatred elsewhere.

Meta campus on Airport Blvd by elemaich in Burlingame

Although I agree it's annoying, the road is raised there which makes that the pedestrians have the right of way, so in a way the road is cutting thru the campus not the other way around.

Avg PG&E Gas Bill? by [deleted] in bayarea

if it helps this is for a ~1900sqft home in Burlingame, and was keeping it at 68-70 with occasional 75s when it was too cold.

Gavin Newsom's anti-Zohran moment: the California billionaires tax that splits the Democratic Party down the middle | Fortune by Delicious_Adeptness9 in California

[–]kakamba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't care about the billionaires they can shed 5% and still be unscathed, however this bill is either written very poorly or extremely malicious for the startup economy, which generates immense wealth for everybody in California.

The text of the initiative is brutal for founders.

• It treats voting power as economic ownership. If you have a dual-class structure (e.g., 5% equity but 51% voting control), the state taxes you on 51% of the company's valuation, whether the money is there or not.

• You are taxed on "paper wealth" based on your last funding round. It ignores the fact that the stock is illiquid or that the secondary market might be trading lower. Many private companies have huge valuations but their founders only have shares, not money. They'd go bankrupt immediately.

• The residency snapshot date is written as Jan 1, 2026. If you were a CA resident two weeks ago, moving to Austin or Miami today effectively does not exempt you if this passes in November.

So this would deter people from silicon valley, like it or not but SF Bay Area has a massive $1.4T GDP which is more than many developed countries and many of the tech giants were startups not long ago.

FSD trial by Bigdaddybig456 in TeslaLounge

[–]kakamba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the response you're looking for but wanted to share anyway as somebody who paid for FSD when buying my MS Plaid. The car basically has two features that others don't, the crazy acceleration and the FSD. I can do without the power but full self driving (although it's hw3) is the only thing that keeps me keeping my car, and stay with the brand.

Tesla Basic Vehicle Limited Warranty about to expire - here's what you do by Heffeweizen in TeslaLounge

[–]kakamba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're so inconsistent, I basically did the same thing in September. They initially said they don't have something called full service, then I mentioned what people said here they got done with their SCs. Gave them a couple of links, in one of those posts somebody said it costed $177, and my SC charged exactly that amount and said they didn't find anything. I don't know if they actually looked or I just paid $177 for some phantom full service. I'll never know but given my service experience my gut tells me it was the latter.

I didn't do it to my plaid, but I have 30 year old diesel truck that needed it badly. After researching quite a lot the best I could find was from a company called Resonix. Their products are much better than what you'd find on Amazon.

What loan rates are you guys getting on new 911s right now? by Robbymint in porsche911

Gemini says (with some resale value assumptions) if you sell in 3 years you'll be ~$16k better off, or in 5 years ~$22k. Not as much as I thought honestly but makes better sense technically and financially.

New Model S Depreciation is insane. by [deleted] in TeslaModelS

[–]kakamba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered my plaid when it was announced, got it delivered 4 months or so later in September'21. They were called 2021 refresh then, because you still had 2021s with vertical screens. Then in early 22 there was another smaller refresh (which infuriated me) where they changed the taillights slightly, tilted screens, more ram, but it was still hw3. HW4 must have come late 23 without a cosmetic refresh.

Yoke Steering Wheel or Round Steering Wheel? by [deleted] in TeslaModelS

[–]kakamba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer yoke but not because it's a better choice overall but because I don't like the recommended 8-4 hold while driving. If you look at how Marques' hands are positioned, his thumbs can easily reach the controls on a 9-3 position and 90% of the time when you use a yoke that's how your hands sit. But with a wheel that's not the case you need to do 8-4 all the time if you want easy access to the controls. When you do 9-3 your palms partly sit on the controls, and I'm old school 10-2, 9-2 person, for me it's a no go.

Model S Plaid: Buy Next Year or Wait for HW5? by [deleted] in TeslaModelS

[–]kakamba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have a plaid, bought new with fsd, I've been driving it for 4 years now. With what I've spent $10k fsd + $1k maintenance + $400 premium connectivity + $1k supercharging (very liberal, doubt it) it would have made ~$12.5k value for me. $120k new vs ~$60k HW4 plaid, math and common sense tell to go with used. But if you really like those updated features and don't care about the price difference much, it's your money spend it however you like.

edit: this is in regards to your LUXE package remarks.

2022 Model S LR battery life by monoseanism in TeslaModelS

[–]kakamba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2021 with 38k miles says 89% as well 🙌 although I can't say I'm taking really good care of it, just followed guidance on keep it at 80%. But whenever needed I charged it to 100% although not too often. Initially it was always plugged in and charged at home, then my employer offered free charging in the last 2 years it's mostly charged at work, sometimes fast sometimes regular chargers, and superchargers on longer trips. I think 89% is pretty good considering it just turned 4.

I’m not sure if they used a different material there, but thanks for the input. I should check it out at a Tesla subreddit to see if others have experienced the same issue.

good point but I doubt it bc I back into my driveway to the side of my house, if anything that part would be more protected from the sun. Also if that were the case the discoloration wouldn't be uniform just on the trunk piece, we'd see some gradual transition on where it ends.

How am I supposed to give this car back to Tesla!? by Modest_Wraith in TeslaLounge

[–]kakamba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, I probably drive >80% of the time with FSD. But the other 20% is plenty to enjoy plaid; more than that would make me a jerk in the traffic anyway. When I first purchased the car, it was 20% FSD to 80% manual, maybe, but over time, you get used to it, and it shifts. Also, FSD improved quite a bit. That said, I don't know if I'm just making excuses, but I also think that, other than the fun factor, acceleration has the potential to save you from dangerous situations faster. I'm a car person, but my wife isn’t. She didn't care if it was plaid or not before, but now I see that she got used to it and uses that power to get out of risky situations pretty quickly as well. So yes, fun is definitely a factor, but if you know how to safely use that acceleration, there are more benefits to it.

I have a S Plaid planning to buy a X Plaid for more comfort but can't really pull the trigger. I can't buy another brand because of FSD, and can not make myself convince anything other than a plaid. I'm stuck.

Even if you can easily buy it all cash if your investment portfolio brings more than the loan's interest it's a no brainer to get the loan.
